  1. tis the season again -- officially starts when I put the below on the tree - a gift from my sister back in 97.
  2. Maybe Brooks will ease your mind a bit. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/04/opinion/no-donald-trump-wont-win.html?hpw&rref=opinion&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=well-region&region=bottom-well&WT.nav=bottom-well&_r=1 Also nice front page op-ed by the NY Times today --- see if this gets any traction, sadly I doubt it will. And yes they do write about taking certain types of guns away from lawful owners for the "greater good". http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/05/opinion/end-the-gun-epidemic-in-america.html?action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=stor
  3. I agree, Trump is getting his share of push back from the media -- both from the right and left. He may deserve more, but he is getting it. The pundits on the 'established' right are not fond of him. (Will/Brooks, etc.)
  4. I listened to Dick's Pick 14 last night --- Disc 4 from 12/2/73.
  5. Trump is some getting push back from the other candidates, esp from Bush and Kasich - of course not many republicans care what they have to say, but at least they are calling him out.
  6. I am not completing panning the shows -- though it may appear that I am. I just wish it would have been better is all. Awkward is a apt word for the shows. After watching some of the web-casts everyone seemed tentative. I got the web-cast feeds from a kind poster here -- definitely glad I have them.
  7. Yeah they are selling FTW DVDs and CD's --- if they would have played better, I probably would have bought it, but after re-watching the shows, I decided not to actually buy any of the packages that they are selling. It was a great time - but I doubt would revisit the shows too often, because at the end of the day the music wasn't all that great. Perhaps if they actually rehearsed more, I would have sprung some more dough and bought it. They probably get along well enough to go on stage (an make lots of money) but not enough to get in room and hash out some tunes. Of course they were nev
  8. It does kinda of suck that they didn't rehearse more for these show. They probably would have sold a lot music on the back end if they did, but I guess the band has never been that interested in selling records/DVDs. It's pretty obvious the core four are not that close -- I am thinking the Billy/Mickey and Phil don't get along. Bobby seems to be stuck in the middle between the two camps. What you gonna do.
  9. I still have these on my old lap top -- I must have gotten these from you or the original poster - I was going through them last month and was wondering where I have gotten them.
  10. Ok that's good - didn't hear that he was sick or anything, so I was wondering.
  11. Is Ringo hurting for money or is just downsizing and unloading stuff?
  12. I am up to 1974 - which is about 2/3rds of the book -- real good, thus far. They interviewed some of the Dead office workers - which for me is kinda cool - a different perspective of the events. Just got an email from my library that new Jerry on Jerry: the unpublished Jerry Garcia Interviews is in for me -- guess I will roll right into that. I guess there audio version has the actual audio interviews with Garcia on it - that might be cool to listen to.
  13. I always had great record stores around my house growing up and when I finally moved into the city - so I only had to go to a Tower Record once - I went to the one on Wabash in city - I was impressed when I walked in - the store had a few levels. I think it closed within a year after I finally went there. I bought The Complete Miles Davis at Montreux there - I remember they had a hell of a sale for it. Now I am back living in the area where I grew up and no record stores are left - my only option is Best Buy.
  14. Definitely agree with the 1st statement. I am a liberal pinko and I have some negative opinions on the President. But with regards to the 2nd - below is the statement issued by the President - where does he write about "grabbing guns"? He may have talked about it elsewhere in another statement or speech, but when I read the below - I don't get the sense the government wants to and will be "grabbing guns". More regulation, perhaps - but "grabbing guns" I don't see. I am guessing you are reading the section in bold and interpreting it as "grabbing guns".
  15. What about classroom training on shooting one? Grant it, you can buy a bunch of rounds and go to range and have shooting practice -- but is that training one to properly own a gun or how just aim a gun?
  16. I didn't mean anything by the "gun school" jargon -- I just mean classes in gun self defense. But one doesn't have to take any classes like that to own a gun, correct? Again I am not baiting here - just curious --- I have never owned a gun. But I think if I ever decide to get one to protect my family, I would take some classes and was wondering what is taught in those classes. I brought this up, because of the whole home invasion stuff. And again I am not baiting - but I am guessing what was taught about guns in the arm forces is different than what is taught in a self defense/home invas
  17. So that is what is taught in gun school --- process the situation. I am assuming the law, in the vast many states, that any intruder, armed or not armed, is a 'legal' target.
  18. Would it matter if the intruder is armed or not armed? Curious - is one taught in gun school to shoot at any intruder, whether the intruder is armed or not? Does one look for gun first or ask if the intruder if they are armed or tell the intruder that you are armed?
  19. Back to the whole Republican debacle - at least Kasich, his super-PAC and supporters are airing commercials against Trump's (and in essence the rest of the front runners') rhetoric. Hopefully the rest of the Party comes to its senses.
  20. Well at least the Lincoln had a huge hood - probably 3 or 4 of your other friends could have joined you and you all would have been fine.
  21. One of the stupidest things I ever did was not buying the above - with the 3D and all - when I came across it at a flea market. I had the regular record already and I think I was still collecting baseball cards - so I think I bought baseball cards with my money, instead of the record.
  22. While Jeff Chimenti is not the virtuoso like Bruce H. on piano - Jeff definitely holds his own -- plus he great on the B-3 organ (which obviously Bruce doesn't play) and he really knows the tunes. He played pretty great in Saint Louis.
  23. Well worth the slight travel and dough to see the Dead & Co. in Saint Louis. Musically - far better than the Fare Thee Well shows. Great shakedown prior to the show in a park across the Soldiers Memorial Military Museum and of course they opened with Shakedown Street. Mayer fits in real well, esp. on the Sugaree. Everyone played great for the packed rink - no hideous flubs by anyone. Mickey, Billy, and Oteil sounded great together - must admit, I didn't miss Lesh in the slightest. Also enjoyed both Weir and Mayer trading vocal leads on various songs, like Terrapin. Weir did sound gre
