  1. Yeah I caught about half of each episode -- fell asleep during the 1st one and didn't realize the next one was airing on Monday and caught the last 20 minutes or so -- I figured all would be on Sunday. Anyway pretty much a retread of the show -- nothing evolved too much. Guess Mulder has or had a kid -- still not sure if Scully is the mother, though. (might have missed it, though). Probably will give it another shot, if I remember that it is on. I noticed that on my TV guide on my TV labeled Monday's episode as Season 10 - Episode 2. I like that it has the same theme music, too.
  2. The Twilight Sad are opening for them in Chicago, too ---- hopefully it will be one of those long shows, but there always seems to be a stupid 11 pm curfew at most of the venues in Chicago and it's a 7:30 start. I enjoyed watching and hearing Reeves play at Lollapalooza -- I didn't realize was in the band at the time, so I was surprised to see him on stage. At times I thought he overplayed a bit -- but it was decent.
  3. Seeing them in Chicago -- looking forward to it. Only saw them at a Lolla a few years back --- great show, but I am looking forward to seeing them indoors in a somewhat small place (UIC Pavilion). I think they are having an opener, so I am guessing it is not going to be a 3 1/3 hour show this time around - but could be wrong about that.
  4. Spotted that, too. That reminds me that I owe you (NoJ) and her a copy of a Cream bootleg. It was discussed way back when Jack Bruce died. I did try to burn a cd, but I haven't done it in so long - I forgot how to do it and I gave up. Guess I need try it again. It was fun hearing that Garcia/Studs interview.
  5. THE STONE in New York City - Is located at the NW corner of Avenue C & East 2nd Sts. 1/20 Wednesday 8 pm - Rova Saxophone Quartet: Larry Ochs, Steve Adams, Jon Raskin, Bruce Ackley plus Nels Cline + Trevor Dunn + Allison Miller - Bruce Ackley, Steve Adams, Larry Ochs, Jon Raskin (saxes) Nels Cline (guitar) Trevor Dunn (bass) Allison Miller (drums); Rova plus Nels Cline, Trevor Dunn andAllison Miller: performing pieces by Cline, Adams, Ochs and Rova, some recorded in 2011 for the New World Records label.
  6. That was great ---- "Fuck you, Captain Tom" - HA! Nice bit by Bowie too - "I thought that went rather nicely!'”
  7. Dave's Pick 18 should be like the below: I am fine with the pick. I don't listen to 76 all that often, though - but I have heard this show before.
  8. I have tried both the Habanero & the Grapefruit Sculpin on tap before -- neither was was all that great. Do enjoy the typical Sculpin, though - but agree, it's too pricey. Purchased a six pack of Smuttynose Finestkind IPA over the Christmas holiday - had a couple - it's enjoyable. Also picked up a six pack of Resurrected (IPA) by 4 Hand Brewing (out of Missouri) - had a couple and wasn't too impressed.
  9. Nice write up --- only have a few Jimmy Giuffre's cds that Bley is on, but none of his cd's where he is the leader. Did catch one of those Cline/Parker/McBride/ Rosaly "Turning Point" shows, though.
  10. When both the owls were in the back yard, they were communicating a lot to one another, after one flew off, the one left wasn't 'hoo-hooing' any longer -- so my kids tried out their owl calls and weren't successful. Definitely looked like a male and female -- at least one was larger than the other.
  11. At dusk, I finally saw the two owls that have been hanging out in my back yard for last year or so - they're huge. Usually we hear them much later at night when it's too dark and the trees too high for me to ever spot them. Kids were able to see them too.
  12. Yeah - sorry NoJ. Brutal way to go out...for all involved.
  13. We decided to throw a wrench in our kid's Christmas morning -- we only put an envelope under the tree - it was left by an elf. My oldest kid just sat on top of the stairs and looked down at the tree, seeing nothing but the envelope - the look of disbelief and sadness was pretty funny -- yeah sometimes seeing your kid disappointed and sad is fun.... We came down and read the contents of the letter, which stated that the elves hid all the gifts and it gave the first clue where the 1st set of gifts were hidden at --- all the other clues were with each set of gifts. It was fun gift hunt.
  14. Hopefully all you Texans are out of harms way, my wife's aunt lives in the Dallas area, luckily it missed her immediate area. Just got back from Southern IL --- shit ton of flooding going on down there. The Mississippi River area by my in-laws, may surpass the flood of 93. Some of my in-laws work at Menard Penitentiary - they are in process of deciding if they have to move the convicts up to higher ground. The current sleet up here in Chicago seems pale in comparison.
  15. The director is currently on Fresh Air.
  16. I suppose it could be security reasons -- don't know. Amazing that this gets any pub. -- but I guess everything is important and pressing in Presidential politics.
  17. I agree -- the first 12 years with the wife was a blast, lot's of traveling, concerts, etc --- it's just has been a different kind of blast the last 6.
  18. Nice little laid back benefit show from 12/23/70 -- a kind of unique rendition of Deep Elem Blues. https://archive.org/details/gd1970-12-23.132343.sbd.miller.flac16
  19. Having a kindergartner at home - some days, I would love to go off on tour ---- of course I would probably end up bringing him along - -- the three year old can definitely stay home with mom, though. I'm 43 - can't imagine having young kid's while I am in my 60s. It is weird that when bands get inducted to this place, that often it brings out all the animosity among various band members. They all seem to take it so seriously. I blame Mike Love for setting the negative vibe on the Hall.
  20. I watched an hour of it. Sanders needs to get better if he wants a chance against Clinton ---- I don't think he has it in him. Obama was able to go after Clinton --- in a somewhat nice way -- and make it stick. Sanders is almost too nice. There is a big difference between the two (Sanders and Clinton)- but as of now, each has their kid gloves on. Clinton of course will pounce at a moments notice - I am not sure if Sanders has it in him ---- like Obama did. Of course I think they are both waiting for the Republican's to thin the herd ---- then they will go after each other. Sanders needs to s
  21. Just got Bare Trees from the library and listened to it for the 1st time today. It is a good one - bit of "pop" to it, too (like the later self title record and Rumors).
  22. Same here --- that 4/71 Filmore run is one my favorites ---- if hard pressed, I would say that Ladies and Gentleman set is my favorite official release. Listening to the run, you can tell that they were enjoying their stay in the city.
  23. That's cause you listened to too much Steve Miller - you joker, you.
  24. But, from a "rock and roll hall of fame" perspective all above groups are worthy, no? (every year we go down this rabbit hole) I would want the Cure to get in before the Smiths.
