Getting Hitched! (elope or no?) What was your wedding like?
nurfherder replied to SarahC's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I got married in May this past year and we didn't start any of the "real" planning until late January, early February. It depends on how formal you want to be as far as planning. If you want the formal invitations and envelopes, you need time to select a paper, style and allow for printing/writing/mailing/response times. If you want to do a less formal email or oral invitation then you're fine (also cheaper that way). That's just one example of what you could do. You've still got plenty of time to plan, don't worry too much! -
Getting Hitched! (elope or no?) What was your wedding like?

Hello! I know we've talked about this before, Sarah, but I'll rehash for others. I've been married a little over six months, now. I loved every minute of my wedding day and thought it was a gorgeous place, lovely food, great people and loads of fun (though I actually barely remember the ceremony and reception and stuff). That being said, I would have preferred to spend tons less $$. While it was relatively cheap by today's standards, it was still a lot of money. Neither of us would have minded eloping, but we knew our friends and family would have been disappointed and angry. We had a -
True story indeed. Thanks for taking care of her, and we can't wait to see her again!

I looked at who started this and I thought to myself, "They're not new, I know them!" Welcome back, as I have just returned as well.

While not quite the response I was looking for, it is nice to see you all again. And I miss my cat, but know she's in good hands. Thanks.

I recently moved to Coventry for school and looking to meet people. The last time I moved I checked the board for people who lived in the area and made friends that way. So I was just wondering if any of you British folks live in the area and would maybe want to meet a fellow Wilco fan.

I tried both the pre-sale and regular sale and had no luck. Anyone willing to part with a pair for the Lincoln show on 12-7? My fiancee wants to see why I love Jeff/Wilco so much... Thanks email hamletjunkies@hotmail.com

No, they weren't surprisingly easy to get, as I didn't get them. Even at 10am couldn't get them (not 10:01, exactly 10).

Not big. I got through on the phone and they said it was sold out.

She has horrible taste in men, marrying the guy from Death Cab... and not me. -
Still no luck for me. All circuits busy on the phone, and nothing available online. Bastards!!!!

Have I mentioned recently that I HATE Ticketmaster? I was ready and waiting at 9:50, refreshed at 10, and couldn't even get to the ticketing portion until 10:03. By which point I couldn't get tickets. Bastards! I got 0 for the presale. Grr!!!

Official Doctor Who discussion thread

Just watched EoT part 2. I was disappointed, really. I tend to feel that after RTD episodes. I love Tennant and what he's done for the show, but somehow I don't feel as if his end was worthy of his acting ability. Though I did love one of his last lines "I don't want to go." He was certainly able to stave off his need to regenerate for what seemed ages until he said goodbye to everyone. Once it started I thought it was more of an immediate thing, but I guess they wanted a farewell tour, as it were. Here's to hoping it gets even better with a new Doctor and new head producer/writer. -

Ah, scheduling explains it. Lois Habiba was the temp at the Home Office who helped out Torchwood by wearing the contacts that recorded everything and then confronted the Council about the plan. When she was meeting Gwen the first time Gwen said something to the effect of "after this is over, come see me about a job." So it seemed like it might be a setting up for her to get into the show. -
I was also at that show but don't have anything on my phone. Do remember counting the number of nothings, though. Happy birthday, Jeff!

Happy birthday! And to Jeff, too.

It was a long time coming for poor Teddy. May you rest in peace, you old lion.

I finally watched the last Torchwood season here in the US. I think Gwen and Jack have always been the heart of the show, so as long as they're alive (well, Gwen at least) there's always the possibility for more Torchwood. Plus, in the "Special Features" section RTD said he thinks its possible for Jack to have more in him, so I'm fairly sure there will be another season. Plus, didn't they set it up for Lois and Micky to join at some point? -
I'm a bit late, but happy birthday!

California Stars is almost constantly in my head. Closely followed by Handshake Drugs. I even sometimes will sing a verse of one, then switch to the other, then back to the 1st. I usually have at least 3 songs in my head at any one time.

I thought they couldn't stand can't stand it?

They cut Late Greats, Hoodoo and Everlasting Everything. A shame, too, because I've never heard Hoodoo (or much Mermaid stuff in my five or so shows) and I know they haven't played Everlasting much, so that would have been great! Other than the new songs I think I'd heard everything before at one show or another, so while the setlist was kind of generic I can't ever complain about a Wilco show. I definitely had a good time and the guys did seem to be into it. Also, I had never been to Wolf Trap before and it's a nice venue. I'll have to catch another show there sometime.
