  1. And you didn't even get to meet me!
  2. Hope all the "Nothings" in Berkeley were meant as better things to come past 40! Happy Birtdhay!
  3. Yes, I'm familiar with Go Country 105. It's our biggest competitor. They usually don't play anything good (relatively speaking, of course). The old station, KZLA, changed to Movin' 93.9 with the even more horrible Rick Dees in the morning.
  4. I'm waiting until all the books are released in paperback in the UK before buying them. I'm an anglophile, what can I do? Though I will be reading book 7 as soon as I can get my hands on it. The local library doesn't have it on order yet, so I don't know what I'm going to do...
  5. I work in country radio so hear all the radio-friendly songs by Toby, Kenny, et al. Before I worked there I couldn't stand "country" music. It's still kind of twang-y but after while grows on you. Now I listen to it all the time. Mostly at work, though, to be honest. That said, I love all the alt-country stuff previously mentioned. I was just listening to RA earlier today and can readily switch from him to Brad Paisley or Josh Turner or Gary Allan (from Huntington Beach, California, btw. Nowhere near a country station in southern CA). When I tell people about RA I do say "You know the
  6. Unfortunately I won't have any idea where my tickets are until the day of the show, but I'm pretty sure they're good. But "good" is a relative term at the Greek as there really aren't bad seats, right? Though when I saw Springsteen there my view of the left part of the stage was blocked, so that kind of sucked...
  7. I'm buying tickets today (cuz I'm special like that). If I buy a pair will someone come with me/pay me back? They're going to be good seats.
  8. I have it on good authority there's likely to be a show at the Santa Barbara Bowl but I don't have a date.
  9. I'm near enought to LA that I could have gone to some stuff had they been selected (and had I still been in the area) but I was rooting for Chicago anyway. So congrats Chicago, hope you win it all.
  10. The country station I work for is giving away tickets to this all next week (before you can buy them). If I'm still in the area at the time of the show I'd love to go. Fantastic lineup and a good way to see some new bands.
  11. I was mostly disappointed with the camera work and editing of the film. It seemed very sloppy at best. I'm no director, but I'm pretty sure zooming, panning and fading are all supposed to be natural and fluid. Anyway, that distracted me from some of the music, but otherwise I enjoyed it.
  12. Sorry to hear about your loss. I can't even begin to imagine the pain. Hopefully the music is bringing some kind of release. Good vibes to the whole Tweedy clan in the coming times.
  13. I thought the same thing about the ending. I was disappointed with it. Enjoyed the movie otherwise, though it was extremely violent.
  14. Are those different than our screen names? If so, I chose "Buck Naked". Ah, Seinfeld....
  15. Just got home about an hour ago. I LOVED the city, had a wonderful time. Thanks to Renic and LouieB in particular for showing me around and pointing stuff out, not to mention being friendly. I didn't get to see everything I wanted to see (and there's a lot of it) so I have ample reason to go back. Oh, and I really need to watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off again.
  16. Quite the good one. My favorite is "The Real Life of Abraham Lincoln". Don't know if it's on youtube or not or what season it's from, but that's a damn funny skit. "Damn you John Wilkes Boothe! I'll kill you for what you've seen here! KILL YOU I SAY!"
  17. I saw him open for Fiona Apple over the summer. If any of the songs he played there are going to be on the album it should be pretty decent. Definitely more sound to it than "O", kind of rocking out a little.
  18. The show was FAN-FRICKIN'-TASTIC!!! Yeah, it was a little sloppy, but it was only the third night of the tour. And that was the fun part about it. The boys were enjoying themselves, drinking, laughing, screwing up the songs and generally having a good old time. They threw in tons of old favorites like Won't Be Coming Home, V and He's A Dick in addition to stuff from the new album. I loved the show, had a wonderful time. So Louie, I say you go when they come round. Oh, and I'll be sure to call you to party when I'm in Chicago.
  19. I would just like to say my team officially sucked the first week. How do you get so thoroughly dominated AT HOME against a division rival you play twice a year? Frickin' Panthers!!
  20. Anyone want to see Sufjan Stevens at the Riviera with me on Tuesday the 26th (since it appears that no one wants to go to a Cubs game)?
  21. Officially 7, unofficialy 8.5.
  22. Well, the last match wasn't nearly as dramatic as the two previous ones, but it was much sadder. So ends the great Agassi legend. Farewell to the great and esteemed man. It's a sad day for tennis. Good luck in everything else, though, good sir!
  23. Anyone watch the match tonight between Andre Agassi and Marcos Baghdatis? My god, that thing was FANTASTIC!! Agassi blew through the first two sets in about an hour and seemed to be cruising til he lost the third. Still, he was up 4-0 in the fourth but Baghdatis turned it around again to force a fifth set. It was hard-fought with some great points and effort on both sides. I only wish there didn't have to be a loser (much like last years Agassi-Blake match). This Baghdatis has a career ahead of him, no question about it. And forward Andre, to the championship you go (I hope)!
  24. Have I mentioned I've been temporarily promoted at my job? I'm currently the Interim Promotions Director of four radio stations in Ventura County, CA. It's been a stressful promotion, but I've learned a lot. I'm definitely glad it's ending next Tuesday, though. This is not a job I want for an extended period of time. Just thought I'd share.
