  1. About to board the plane now. Very excited.
  2. Analogman, Where have you found the best quality recordings of Ryan from the Casal era? There are so many available on bt and dime and I don't have time to download them all and try them. Any other good source where they rate the quality of the recordings?
  3. Seeing them next Friday. Can't wait.
  4. Was one of the hookers reading over your shoulder?
  5. There are different forms of sarcasm, and certainly different intents behind them. If you would like to discuss it further off-line, I am one click away.
  6. Have you made a single response to Hixter that doesn't contain petulant sarcasm? Do you never get tired of sounding that way in your own head?
  7. a general pondering. I was thinking about how many Wilco songs I'd need to play for someone in order to give him/her an idea of who the band is, musically. Then I thought about the Dead in the same context. then I realized that with, for instance, AC/DC, I could probably accomplish that task with one song. That's not to diminish AC/DC--they do one thing and they do it really well. Consider a band/solo artist and how many songs you think it would take to convey its/his/her sound to someone.
  8. I have 2 Earth Drives. Fantastic pedals. Especially at a low gain, higher volume setting they really bring out some great tones.
  9. (ps the board with the Flashback x4 and Line 6 delay was William Tyler's)
  10. Top/Middle Row: Devi Ever Torn's Peaker, mid-fi pitch pirate, EHX Holy Grail Nano, Peterson Stomp Classic, DBA Total Sonic Annihilation Bottom Row: Freakshow #9 Boost, Demo Tape Fuzz, Freakshow Brown Rabbit, ?, Lovetone Big Cheese, Moog MF-104M Analog Delay (acoustic mini board has JHS-modded EHX Holy Grail and expression pedal and another Peterson tuner)
  11. the new (to me) twists to Kingpin were enjoyable. I used to love that song but had kind of relegated it to pee-break status over the past few years because of the dragging call and response thing. Nels and Glenn matching up for these new bits is much better, in my opinion. The extended Airline to Heaven was great as well, although I'll be happy to hear a recording of it because I wasn't able to catch much of Tyler's guitar from my side-stage vantage. As an unabashed guitar junkie and Tweedy fan, it was a real treat to be able to finally view most of his pedal and other equipment changes be
  12. curious about that too. what a great set list. wonder what they'll pull out tonight. heading to Austin in a few hours... was really hoping to catch Spiders. Hopefully they'll repeat it.
  13. Cool. I'll be there Wednesday. A friend scored a couple VIP passes. 2013's show there was phenomenal.
  14. bbop, you coming to the Austin shows this coming week?
  15. I'm sure you're right, although with the way my memory works today, it's more likely I'll tell those grandkids about the day in 1973 when my friend Jennifer and I climbed the Atlantic ocean with my elephant.
