according to allmusic, the band's name is an oxymoron. Surely Gano will use this fact in his defense.

rap music blows edit: this is 65 days

yep. I bought both of those on vinyl in 4th or 5th grade. First concert I ever saw was the blizzard of oz tour--an album that paled in comparison to blizzard of oz and diary of a madman, imo.

news for you Gin Blossom fans
Atticus replied to tongue-tied lightning's topic in Someone Else's Song
Perfect Blue Buildings is a nice song. I haven't liked anything of theirs except the first album and a fantastic european bootleg I have that has a terrific version of "Elizabeth" on it, their best song in my book (though imo the studio version is a stinker). although I think I remember them doing a decent version of "you ain't going nowhere" that was an add-on to some european release or something. anyone heard that one? -
i like the guitar on "on fire"

I enjoyed every minute of the show, though I can't really explain why. Sort of like my love for David Lynch films. I understand why it didn't do well commercially. I'm trying to be an optimist and hope that this means Milch will consider doing the Deadwood movies that were talked about.

Happy Birthday, Sir Stewart

I'm pretty sure the flaming troll douchebags are holding strong. I would hold out on pronouncing a winner just yet. I wonder if folks like Jeff and Ryan throw up a little in their mouths whenever they see someone throwing out the "alt.country" tag in posts like yours.

I'm not knocking the guy's talent, I'm just not sure I'd place him in front of some of the others listed...

I listened to about a dozen Gram Parsons tunes last night from GP and Grievous Angel. I'll take Ryan and Gillian Welch's version of "Return of the Grievous Angel" from Exit/In over the studio track any old day. While I certainly hear an influence, Ryan has a style of his own and has definitely added some instrumentation that is not present in Parsons' music. Not to mention the scores of songs he's written that bear no relation to Parsons whatsoever. Thank you What Light? for helping urge on a renewed interest in Ryan Adams for me.
