We lined up two hours early for a local record store that gets a lot of RSD stuff in. We were the 3rd/4th people in line but someone 5 people down knew exactly where it was and pushed his way in for the only copy, super frustrating. We checked all 4 other places, but none of them even got a copy. For a city of nearly 800K people, we got one copy.

Doesn't hurt to call and ask. I have seen some record stores confirm what they will (or at least, what they won't) have in advance. Other record stores, like the one I'm going to in Winnipeg, won't say. Before I moved here, in my last city, there was two small stores that would just special order what you requested (though, they wouldn't always receive it) which is apparently unheard of in bigger communities.

I think it's cool Jeff is doing this to support indie record stores. I do think since there won't be any other way to hear this (at first) there will be more demand than the 3500 NA and 1500 EU copies can facilitate. This probably could have been an 8000 release. But, on the other hand, Jeff's people probably know the numbers better than me, an internet message board commentator!! Either way, keeping this as a true RSD exclusive is a great thing to do, IMHO.

If you don't get it, don't panic. Some areas will be better supplied than others. I'm sure other Wilco fans will be willing to help each other out. A lot of times a day or so after RSD, stores with left over supply will start listings theirs for sale. I got the Uncle Tupelo demos last year from Amoeba that way, for the same price in store (plus shipping). Whatever you do, don't buy an $80 copy off a flipper from Discogs till the dust settles. It'll take some time to determine the demand and the worth for that record, but you'll see copies on Discogs/eBay on Record Store Day for ridiculously in

For what it's worth, I was chatting with my local record store owner this weekend and he said the distributor got significantly less copies of Warmer than they were expecting/hoping for. 5000 isn't a lot to go across the globe, so this might not just be a Canadian problem. I'm planning on arriving at my record store early.
  6. What else are you suppose to do if your period key breaks??
  7. Great review as always bbop. That's really too bad. I might have said this before but I heard Jeff play Having Been Is No Way To Be a few times before Warm came out, and there was always a laugh or woo from the audience. I figured that might just be because it was the first time a lot of people were hearing that song and didn't realize how heavy and serious that particular set of lyrics were. It's very uncomfortable to hear people react that way especially given how open Jeff has been about his experiences. Does this mean Jeff/the crew can tell which IP addresses the requests come from?
  8. Yeah, I saw this too, it was an out of left field mention. I also wonder if they were just making it up since... well, reality TV. I really hope if any VC'ers are going to living room shows or Loft tours, they ask Jeff about this!

Did I miss it or has Warmer not been officially announced from the Wilco / Jeff camp?? Make that three! Jeff is on the Minus 5 RSD release.
  10. Yikes. The nerve of these people. Last night there was someone bragging on social media about how much vodka they sneaked in... I can't help but wonder if it's related?

This confirms there definitely has to be a Warmest coming at some point, right??

It's a 10 song LP, according to a RSD post floating around social media.
  13. Yeah I booked my AirBnb as soon as the dates were announced, which I believe was more than a year in advance. The AirBnb host came back and upped his rates once he realized that was Solid Sound weekend.
  14. Let me rant about Bohemian Rhapsody. Spoilers ahead. It's not as bad as the Jimi Hendrix biopic but that's not saying much. I actually saw A Star Is Born recently too and I kind of wished I saw this first, it's blandness might have made me like ASIB more. The home version I saw also had the full Live Aid concert, which I don't really understand the point of, I guess if you've ever wanted to watch actors lip sync to Queen for 20 minutes than it was probably worthwhile. It failed to make Freddie a captivating, or even understandable character. Also, I don't feel like anyone who worked on this mo
  15. I can't watch this video outside of the US, can anyone recap what the joke was??
  16. Oh nice! That's great news, I figured they were due for a new one this year. Thanks for the recap, sounds like a good mini set.
  17. I'll echo the calls that Russian Doll is great. Has anyone watched the Netflix series Dogs? All the episodes are pretty great, but the second one had me in tears. Incredible documentary.
  18. Nope, our Adams is by all reports a good enough dude. Ryan Adams is all yours, America.
  19. Ahhh a European run to warm up before the soon to be announced 10 province, 3 territory Canadian tour. Yes, very smart.
  20. Yikes. We've always known he was an asshole. If you told me yesterday "TCP, tomorrow the New York Times will publish a takedown of a popular songwriter that own records of" I wouldn't even hesitate in guessing Ryan. But writing beautiful songs doesn't excuse abusive behaviour. It's all bad but the stuff with the underage girl is utterly unforgivable and disgusting. I wonder what happens from here? The music community has been way too forgiving to abusers.
