More Jack White tonight! Yeah definitely, most people don't have lighters but everyone would have a phone.
-
Oh man, it was a little annoying having my phone locked away. I wasn't crazy about not being able to check the time or message my wife when she was at the merch booth. I'm, admittedly, not opposed to taking a quick photo at the beginning of the set either. But it was nice not having jabronies filming videos, holding up their phones, letting their flash go, and shoving their phones next to the people on the rail's faces (this happened to me during Spoon earlier this year). Also it was nice seeing the warmth of actual lighters again and not a bunch of phone screens during slow songs.

Hey all, I'm assuming since bböp hasn't posted anything (and the fact that I didn't see him), means we're bböpless for this recap. I, unfortunately, am no bböp, but gosh darnit I'll give it my best shot. First up, no setlist, though someone nearby was keeping track, maybe they are on here and will post?? It was only a 60 minute set, stalwarts like California Stars, Jesus Etc, Locator, Misunderstood, Hummingbird, I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, Not For The Season, and I'm The Man Who Loves You were played. Uncle Tupelo's New Madrid and We've Been Had Were also played. Four new songs were play

Mavis Staples, Whitney, Parquet Courts (from a distance), The Decemberists again doing The Crane Wife in full, and.... some songwriter named Jeff Tweedy.

A (very) young Cowboy Poet actually really liked Weezer, one of the first bands I ever got into and a gateway to Pixies, Nirvana, etc. But I don't think I could make it through a Weezer set in 2018... (maaaybe if it was just Blue and Pinkerton played back to back... for the nostalgia!!). But fortunately, it was a non-Weezer show. The band that opened is Sleigh Bells and they were the worst goddamn band I've ever seen. I'd watch Weezer play Beverly Hills a thousand times before I'd ever watch one of their sets again. They were 90% prerecorded, with two guys with BC Rich metal guitars doing some

The Decemberists, Waxahatchee, Death Cab For Cutie. Yeah no complaints from me, they were great! Paz even sang Gigantic which I wasn't expecting.
-
Wait, did I misread that or are you saying Nels sang What Light?! Also that line up looked great this year, hope you had fun!

Is this fucking guy for real?

Does an Official video for song "A Shot in the Arm" from Summerteeth exist?

Isn't Can't Stand It shot in a hospital?? I can't seem to find Can't Stand It on YouTube and it's been at least 12 years since I've seen it so my memory might not be the most reliable but there is definitely (probably) a Can't Stand It video where Jeff is on a stretcher of some sort.- 4 replies

Yeah I was originally looking at camping but AirBnB looks pretty affordable in North Adams especially if you can get a group together.

I saw Hereditary on Monday. I'm not the biggest horror fan but everything, the cinematography, the acting, the score, worked together to create an intense sense of dread throughout the whole film. By the end of it I was stressed out and my anxiety was peaking. The wife really wants to watch it when it's on VOD but I don't know how I'm going to sit through that film again!! I can't recommend it enough.

The wife and I got lucky, she got us row 3 for Vancouver and GA for Victoria, while I found floor tickets for Seattle.

I had to do a double take this morning when I saw not one but TWO BC dates. Folks, this goes to show that whining and complaining works!!

Nice!! Didn't know there was another VC'er there. Byrne was great, we watched him on the hill but I wish we were closer. The National was great too, though since I'm tall Matt almost took me out with his mic chord when he got into the crowd!! I loved Spoon too, I'd never seen them before but it was a great performance.

Bejamin Clementime, Julien Baker, Margo Price, Wolf Parade, David Byrne, and then Bon Iver.

Have you ever been to a concert that made you lose interest in a band?

I saw Pete Yorn live once and I can agree with u2roolz. That was 2003 and I don't think I've listened to Pete Yorn since. Just boring. Is this the most people have talked about Pete Yorn in 15 years?! -
Watched It Follows earlier this weekend. A good movie elevated to great status thanks to a superb soundtrack. Rewatched Black Panther last night on VOD. I think it's in the Dark Knight tier of great super hero movies. Not only that but I feel it's culturally one of the most important movies in a long, long time.

Still waiting for my vinyl to arrive, but I couldn't wait so I've played it on Spotify a few times. It sounds great. Not a dud on it. Though nothing has jumped out on me the way Dead Fox, Depreston, Avant Gardener did but that could change with a few more listens.
