  1. I hear this song on the radio all the time but I've never seen the video before: http://youtu.be/upuFf_JlfF8
  2. Snagged tickets to Vancouver and Seattle. After fees and everything they came out to $120 CAD each. But still....
  3. I was listening to the new album yesterday. It's really good! Maybe not Rubies good but still good.
  4. I've listened to the new single a bunch in the past few days and I have to say it's really grown on me from when I first heard it. IIRC Lazaretto (the song) was the same way for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Yeah I have a live a record of him playing Lollapalooza from around that era, really great setlist since he pulls from The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather and his solo stuff (plus some choice covers including Led Zep IIRC). The best part is hearing The Stripes songs with a full band and the awesome drummer he had on that tour (no disrespect to Meg). Feel free to correct me on t
  5. I was telling my wife this morning when the album got announced that it should be good since every other Decemberists record is good. The Crane Wife - Good The Hazards of Love - Not good The King is Dead - Good What A Terrible World - Not good But after hearing the new single, it appears this one also might be.... not good. Also to be fair I didn't really listen to What A Terrible World that much so it might actually be good and in which case my whole theory is shot.
  6. New tourdates announced this morning. I'm in for Vancouver and probably Seattle.
  7. I meant Wilco!!! Wait the Stones were still together after Exile??
  8. I didn't think that was that old of a picture till you see how young the kids are. I forget sometimes how long this lineup has been together for!
  9. I don't think it's awful but it's not great. It's not really memorable. It's just sort of... there. What's the hook?! Feels like it could be a late album filler song but the lead single?? But I'll refrain from judgement till I hear it within context of the rest of the record.
  10. That's awesome! Everyone needs to vote!
  11. Ok after much internal debate, and after listening to Ty Segall's 2017 album, here's my definitive, definitely won't change, top-10 for 2017. Benjamin Booker - WitnessKevin Morby - City MusicMac Demarco - This Old Dog
Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile - Lotta Sea LiceThe War On Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
Iron & Wine - Beast EpicBig Thief - CapacityTy Segall - Ty SegallKacy & Clayton - The Siren's SongHiss Golden Messenger - Hallelujah Anyhow HM: Margo Price, Jen Cloher, Destroyer, The National, Fleet Foxes, Mavis Staples, Waxahatchee, Ryan Adams.
  12. Oh cool more posts in the Star Wars threa---
  13. Yeah it's kind of heartbreaking that Luke worrying about Ben turning to the dark side is what made Kylo turn dark. It's Luke's darkest moment too. A lot of layers there. And yes, agreed... Rey and Ren fighting together was great and beautifully shot. Much better then the prequels with tons of light sabres and needless flips.
  14. I disagree. The Last Jedi is anything but just another Star Wars movie, and that's what makes it great. Maybe the best of the series (I don't want to make too strong of a declaration without seeing it twice). Yoda sums it all up "failure is the best teacher" and failure is the theme of this movie. Poe, Rey, Finn all fail in their quests. Poe mutiny fails. Even when Poe does win (the opening scene) it's a failure in the big picture. Rey fails to turn Kylo to the light. Finn fails to find the right codebreaker which causes him to fail at disabling the tracking device. Luke fails Kylo. Leia's pos
  15. Well this is weird. http://youtu.be/08EMoyK-Z08
  16. I definitely don't mean to be a contrarian, just want to point out, I'm from Vancouver/BC and I've never heard anyone talk about them before. I asked an older friend of mine who was playing bass in Vancouver bands in the mid-80s and he'd never heard of them either. But of course, that's just anecdotal.

    A.M. Deluxe?

I just compared the original to the remastered and the sound is in both! Probably the sound of someone adjusting their instrument.
  18. I'm glad you got it! Bull Moose still doesn't want to sell to us lowly Canadians!! Hopefully Amoeba will have it up soon. Coincidentally I found a copy of Another Fine Day on Discogs today for $25. After this I'll just need another pressing of Down By The Old Mainstream because I'm not shelling out $150 for a used copy.
  19. This must be of interest to some of us. Bull Moose has a listing for a vinyl copy of Weird Tales: http://www.bullmoose.com/p/26390473/golden-smog-weird-tales-2lp-green-vinyl-2lp-green-vinyl-syeor-2018-exclusive Green vinyl. Listed as "SYEOR Exclusive" which apparently is "Start Your Ear Off Right", a Record Store Day initiative. Weird Tales, as you might know, is one of the only Wilco-related records that has never available on vinyl.

    A.M. Deluxe?

Canada Post must know how much I love Wilco because they did a special Sunday morning delivery for me. Naturally I started with Being There side 5, the first bonus disc. I was pretty good about not streaming everything in the past few weeks. So songs like Sun's A Star is new to me and sounds great, despite Jeff admitting he fucked it up. John's linernotes in AM are great, he's got a great way with words and it's nice to hear his perspective. As for the coloured records... the AM vinyl maybe doesn't look as great as the Vinyl Me Please reissue of last year but Being There on white vinyl with w
  21. Your whole post is great but this really sums it up. And I think Jeff just being a regular guy is what leads to his music being so authentic.
  22. I was listening to the new Mavis album last night and was reminded that Jeff has written and recorded a new album for four straight years, Sukierae in 2014, Star Wars 2015, Schmilco 2016, If All I Was Was Black in 2017 plus Together At Last, if Jeff writing/producing/guitaring IAIWWB doesn't cut it for you. I wonder if he's going to keep this up? On one hand I want new music, on the other hand, I feel like the guy deserves a break.

    A.M. Deluxe?

Yeah exactly!! You're right, it's lazy. In the case of Pitchfork, they've written about Jeff vs Jay multiple times over the years, and then they did it again in this review. Which would be one thing but then they just sort of glossed over the new music. I feel like the vast majority of people interested in these deluxe records are probably already familiar with the original albums and the story behind him, I can't see too many non-Wilco fans wanting to put down the amount of cash for either release when they could pick up the original copies for much less (I'm talking mostly vinyl here, I'm no
