Happy Holidays, Donna and VC!

I saw a lot of shows this year including three festivals. Here are a few: The Decemberists doing The Crane Wife in full at Travelers Rest Fest in Missoula Montana. This was two nights, the second night they did The Crane Wife plus some other classics. It was my favourite show of the year. The National at Sasquatch Music Fest. They were just really good. Matt almost took my head off with his mic cable when he came into the crowd. The War on Drugs at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. They were also just really good. Jeff Tweedy at The Moore in Seattle. I saw Jeff four times this year, this nig

Great review! But I will also echo lost highway. I get that music reviews are your own opinions, but you write off Schmilco and Star Wars as if that's the general consensus. Which I would argue, especially in the case of Star Wars, is not the case.

What a time to be alive! Now maybe Pitchfork will adjust the A Ghost Is Born and Sky Blue Sky scores up a few points each. Make it right, Pitchfork!

Ah yes, like when Jeff use to bring Glenn out at solo shows to play some songs as a two-piece. I bet that'd work great with Spencer.

I heard rumours here and there, that there would be a release this Spring. Until yesterday I assumed it was another acoustic Loft Sessions, which would be great of course, but this is very exciting. Between this, the Wilco album next fall, and of course, the third Loose Fur album which is definitely happening*, 2019 is going to be a fun year. *probably not

Here's Pitchfork giving Jeff the best review they've given him since YHF.

Did JT say this last night??

Warm...er?!?! Nice to see that some of those mysterious other songs Jeff has been playing in 2018, that surprisingly weren't on the Warm track listing, are coming out after all.

"Now people sayWhat drugs did you takeAnd why don't you start taking them again?"

Amazon.ca dropped the ball BIG time. I guess that's what I get for trying to earn a single airmile instead of supporting my local indie store :-\ But, I did listen to the record via Spotify today and I think it's really good. Having Been Is No Way To Be is an absolute stunner. I love the transition from from The Red Brick into Warm (When The Sun Has Died). The whole thing has a cohesive sound yet no two songs sound too similar to each other. This record continues a streak of really solid songwriting since, well, I mean you could say since Uncle Tupelo... but I feel like he's been on a roll wi

Finally finished this tonight. I originally got about 2/3rd though and then had to put it down with some work / life stuff popping up this past week. Honestly it's been hard for me to find the time and (mental) energy to read in recent years but this was an easy read and felt like Jeff just sitting talking about his life. It felt like a conversation, at the end when Jeff starts talking about getting in to the minutiae of hi-hat sounds, I wish I could have told him how much I relate to that (for the record; hard panned, prominent but not too bright, kind of... crunchy) and how getting that into

I caught the stream, pretty good performance, Mountain Bed always sounds great. Though, I was really hoping someone would request Gun or Screen Door after reading the parts about them in Jeff's book. This post seems unnecessarily harsh. -
I'll agree with that too. John's been playing with him by far longer than anyone else, I've always been curious about their relationship and what's kept them together so long. Though, I guess there's less drama there. Honestly, while it was great to finally have Jeff's takes, the Jay Farrar and Jay Bennett fallouts have been written about so much and so well documented, that I'd love to hear about post-2004 Wilco a little more. I fully recognize I'm a hardcore fan and most people want to hear about the Jays, drug use, record label tomfoolery, etc.

Without spoiling anything, there's ONE thing that's visual, at least. I wonder how it'll translate for the audiobook.

Jeff Tweedy Book Tour 11/13/18 Mrmrr Theater Brooklyn NY

Damn, they should have asked me to moderate. I'd be asking Jeff about string gauges and the different types of synthesizers on the AGIB drone. Plus every other question would have been "Where's the next Loose Fur album?". Wait was that about the "smoke pot, smoke pot" back up vocals? If so did Jeff confirm? I'm still waiting to know if I should try the weed. -
I know he was 95 but this one hurts. I've loved Spider-Man, X-Men, The Avengers, etc as long as I can remember.

The album version of Let's Go Rain is up on Spotify. Sounds great to hear the full version.
