  1. RIP https://pitchfork.com/news/david-berman-silver-jews-purple-mountains-dead-at-52/ This one hurts.
  2. Yeah he needs to capitalize on this! I've seen the feral hogs referenced everywhere online from people outside the music world who've never even heard of Jason.
  3. Jason Isbell, best known as the guy from the feral hog thing.
  4. The pride of Swift Current, SK! I saw him do some songs a few weeks ago with Kathleen Edwards and Courtney Marie Andrews, never would have guessed he's only 25. Isbell is coming here in Wednesday but it's a solo acoustic gig with Josh Ritter.
  5. Sorry for the necro-bump but I want to compliment bbop for his astute observation that this place is a dump. I was there tonight for Kurt Vile, when I got there, I noticed the state of the place and then remembered this report. I saw multiple chairs with old gum stuck to the seats. I could keep going but let's just sum it up and say the whole place is just a dive. Hopefully next time I'm in T.O. I can check out Massey Hall if it's open again.
  6. Great pics as always! Does anyone have the setlist? And maybe a recap?
  7. Not to derail things. There's definitely something that makes me uncomfortable about Pitchfork also hosting their own festival. Especially since they now rarely report on other festivals unless it's after the fact (the Kermit the Frog stuff today) or bad news (Woodstock). But major festivals will announce their line ups and Pitchfork won't say anything, which feels weird especially from a journalistic view. I hate to put my tinfoil hat on but do they give more coverage, better coverage, to artists that are playing their fests?
  8. Hey Paul, were you going to THING next month? If not I will try to keep track of the setlist and do a report!
  9. I have to ask... did you shush them? There was someone complaining about getting shushed in the Facebook group!! I like singing along but if it's not a singalong song, I keep it quiet so I'm not bothering anyone else.
  10. Call me harsh but.... Ryan Adams is not entitled to a career. Performing in theatres and releasing records is a privilege and until he does make amends (which I don't know how you do that when you're being accused of sexting a child but definitely he could start by apologizing to Phoebe, Mandy, etc directly), yes, I feel like it's not unreasonable to expect him to just disappear and go wherever these me too'd guys go. It's not like he's been making minimum wage for the past 20 years, I'm sure he can live a comfortable life outside of the public eye. As it is, I can't imagine too many promoter
  11. It's really disappointing to see so many positive replies to his tweets. Though, not surprising, even at Solid Sound I saw a number of people in Ryan Adams tshirts. It's especially disconcerting that he hasn't apologized or done anything to suggest he's seeked help or done anything to correct his behavior. He's essentially saying "believe women ........but not these women". There's too much good music out there to spend any time listening to someone like Ryan Adams. Just go away.
  12. That was a great interview. But how do you not follow up and ask for more info when Jeff admits he wrote and recorded an entire album off Bob Dylan lyrics?!
  13. I wonder if the 1000 of the deluxe package is in response to the "outrage" over the limited pressing of 3500 for Warmer? 1000 for a $500 package is probably too many pressings. It would be a good opportunity to do to a small run like 100-500 pressings (though, of course, it's entirely possible there was a minimum order they needed to make for the book). An LP with new songs for $20? That's going to need much more than 3500. But what do I know? Maybe it'll sell out and I'll eat crow. Delicious crow. Yeah and Spencer isn't listed in the linernotes so it 100% has been rerecorded. It wouldn'
  14. Looks like they've sold only 18 of the deluxe version on the US store today (assuming all 1000 were up for preorder). I wonder if they'll adjust the price if it doesn't catch on? Bandcamp has the linernotes: Produced by Jeff Tweedy and Tom Schick Engineered and mixed by Tom Schick Engineering assistance by Mark Greenberg Mastered by Bob Ludwig Packaging design by Lawrence Azerrad Photography by Zoran Orlic Recorded at The Loft - Chicago Wilco is Nels Cline, Mikael Jorgensen, Glenn Kotche, Pat Sansone, John Stirratt, and Jeff Tweedy. Saxophone by Paul Von Mertens. All songs written by Je
  15. That's bold. Let's make it a bet!
  16. Yeah I'd happily drop $100 but $500 is just too much especially for what it contains. I'm happy for those who purchased it and are excited for it. I'm just relieved there's no exclusive music trapped behind that paywall.
  17. $500 deluxe version?! Wow.
  18. I doubt they'll shadowdrop a new album again but here's hoping. Give me a single and a cool vinyl to pre-order and I'll be happy.
  19. Last day of Winnipeg Folkfest. There's a workshop featuring Julia Jacklin and Snail Mail who were both great yesterday. But today's big ticket item (for me) is... Steve Gunn!
  20. The Cactus Blossoms, Julia Jacklin, and Snail Mail.
  21. Car Seat Headrest and Alvvays
  22. The Jeff Tweedy store now says "Ode to Joy" with an e-mail option: https://jefftweedystore.com The cached version of the page on Google is indeed the preorder page for the Warm/Warmer combo pack. Could this be in regards to the new album? What does it all mean?! The page looks like a placeholder, though it's weird it says Ode to Joy. Kind of reminds me of Schmilco where we were able to internet sleuth some listings for the new album prior to announcement. Maybe. Thanks to Dan on the Facebook group for noticing this.
  23. Outside of Wilco concerts, I've only ever met a very small handful of people who even know who Wilco is. As soon as we parked outside our AirBnb and got our bags, an older woman across the street asked "Oh are you here for Wilco?". You know you're in a special place when a random person sitting on a porch in the evening with her dog is asking you about Wilco. When we were exploring MassMoCA on Friday afternoon a Solid Sound volunteer stopped us and asked us if we wanted to experience something that I think she described as "an immersive experience". I was about to say "uh, no thanks" but she
