Oh good point about the Tuesday thing. Ok, so, not to beck pedal, but if not this week than next Tuesday. Further predictions: No album announcement, but I could see a single getting dropped like Locator did before Schmilco was announced.

I have a good feeling the North American tour will be announced this week. If this doesn't happen you can all blame me.

What took you so long! Classic albums you just discovered

I highly doubt a small sign held briefly at shoulder height would be as obstructive for the people behind me as say, me with my (admittedly) large head and 6"3 height. Hey I'm the first person to suggest we keep things from getting too US centric but this will be the majority of festival goer's first Wilco show since the Schmilco tour, so I think we can understand theashtraysay's point.

Great recap! Do you think there's time to mail your sign?? -
New record is great, I listened to it last night and (some of it) on the way into work this morning. Matt's voice sounds great when mixed with the female harmony vocals. Over all I get a more positive hopeful vibe from this album than Sleep Well Beast. I will say, it's a good example of an album that could probably lose a few songs. Not that anything sticks out as a bad song, but when it was over, I didn't want to put on side A again, which is not the case for a shorter more concise album like Boxer.

As you guys know, I am the official Youngest Wilco Fan© and even I am 32 in a few weeks, so I don't think you'll need to worry about Spring Breaker Wilco fans! At least from the first gen Wilco fans. Of course, some of you baby boomers and gen Xers probably don't get out too much, so it could still be a pretty hard partying event.

I will not be going. I went to Mexico for my sister's wedding in 2011 and did not enjoy the heat or lounging by the pool and beach. While the lineup is great (arguably better than SSF19) ultimately I feel like this isn't for me. I do like traveling around for concerts, this would eat up my entire 2020 budget. Not dead yet! There was discussion in the A Wilco Related Live Show thread.

A new Wilco album recorded live is an interesting idea and Night One at Solid Sound would be the best time to do it. But, I think there was a lot of rumours of them recording in the fall/winter (the Blackhawks game photo comes to mind). The rumours/speculation were for an autumn release but with the Euro tours and we're all pretty sure they're about to announce an extensive Canadian tour (right?!) I can't imagine they'll be doing the Schmilco sets again. A surprise summer release like Star Wars was would be fun! When Songs: Ohia's Mi Sei Apparso Come Un Fantasma (You Appeared To Me As A

Apparently a new unreleased Ty album leaked yesterday. Did anyone happen to get it? Thoughts??

Choo Choo!! That's going to great live.

Yeah I feel like Mac really made a distinct guitar sound for himself with the clean DI sound and lots of tremelo, but I'm not hearing that much on this new album, though it still very much sounds like Mac. I'll agree with you about This Old Dog being his best, that record was my soundtrack to summer 2017. Another One is great too though, I feel like a lot of people overlooked it because it's a mini album but I think it's some of his strongest work. Also how great is the end to Baby Bye Bye? Very unexpected but fun!

I'm going to be really annoyed if it's a colour vinyl release. So annoyed. But then I will buy it. Because I'm a SUCKER.

It's well past time that Mac gets his own Via Chicago thread. If you don't know who Mac DeMarco is he's one of this decade's most notable names in indie rock. He's released four studio albums, 2, Salad Days, This Old Dog, and as of today, Here Comes The Cowboy. He's also released two "mini LPs" Rock and Roll Night Club and Anther One. Mac was born in Duncan, BC (that's in Canada), grew up in Edmonton Alberta (that's also in Canada), and started his career in the Vancouver (that too is in Canada) indie rock scene. Mac's punk-rock inspired on stage antics earned him a reputation of being a bit

I like grabbing a few pics when the artist first gets on stage, especially if I'm close like I was last night but it's a fine tradeoff to not have idiots on their phones filming everything the whole time. I know I've brought this up before but I saw a guy film an entire Wilco concert on his iPad once. His iPad!!!!

Donna, Neko was great! She had a six piece band with her, and at a few points there was 5 guitars at the same time. But other times there was keyboards, pedal steel, and vocal harmonies. Fox Confessor was an important album for me in my college years so it was great to finally hear some of those songs live (alas, no Star Witness!!) and I was impressed with how well the Hell-On songs sounded next to them. My biggest thing of note was how strict the Burton Cummings Theatre was with cellphones. When they scanned your ticket they warned you no cellphone use at all unless you're in the lobby. Suppo

Love that take of Don't Be Denied. Can't wait for this. According to Rolling Stone Homegrown is next.

Surprising to hear the response to Schmilco hasn't warmed yet. Reminds me of Sky Blue Sky when it launched. Star Wars is the fun party record (well as close to a party as Wilco gets, you know what I mean!) and Schmilco is the weird autumn record for listening to alone at night. Both have their time and place. Both rank among the strongest of Nels/Pat era Wilco, IMHO.

Jeff Tweedy Thing Festival 8/24 & 25 Port Townsend, Washington
TCP replied to chuckrh's topic in Just A Fan
The wife and I were planning on going to Vancouver for the Iron and Wine / Calexico show on August 24th, but they'll also be playing this. But so is Jeff, and Kurt Vile, and Snail Mail, and Phosphorescent, and Parquet Courts.... that's a great line up. So, long story short, sounds like we'll be going. After Solid Sound and the Winnipeg Folkfest, this will be my third music fest this summer, let's see if I survive. Regardless, I hope to see some other VC'ers there! -

Wow, those Jay Bennett exchanges are something else. The nerve of these people. Paul, thank you for your recaps and thanks to all the others who chimed in as well. This has been an interesting tour to read about. Are you going to Europe for the Wilco shows this summer/fall?? -

Great recap bbop. I really enjoy reading these when I come into work, after I check my e-mails, but before I'm emotionally ready to tackle my tasks of the day. Great setlist! I wish I could have heard Plateau. -
You mean you don't have one of these??

Game of Thrones ending begins tomorrow. Any other fans on here? I've reconciled that this isn't George RR Martin's story anymore but since he hasn't released a book since 2011, I'm just happy to finally have any sort of ending for A Song of Ice and Fire.
