  1. Can't respect a list that ignores the live Sloan record. And The Band too!!! Do the writers just hate Canada and our awesome health care? Jealous pricks.
  2. Ween is a novelty band. There I said it. While we're on the topic of novelty music, Flight of the Conchords have written some of the best songs in years... joke songs or not. Also: George Harrison's last album is the best album by a Beatle since All Things Must Pass.
  3. I've never heard this before. Should I?
  4. There's a couple songs I really like ...specifically Torn and Frayed & Sweet Virginia but the album as a whole is too long and far too monotonous. Every time I listen to it I just find myself thinking "is this over yet??". Ugh.... "Whoooo do you love???" I never want to hear that crap again. I do love when they play The Band's own material in that. Those live versions of Up on Cripple Creek, the Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, It Makes No Difference, etc are tremendous.
  5. The vocals on Spence's version really kills it for me. Kills most of the album actually. Anyways, am I blind or is there no shots of John or whoever the mysterious bass player is? I see Pat in the beginning but besides that the only Wilco member's I see are Jeff and Glenn.
  6. Beck & Wilco's Version > Skip's Version
  7. No first order of business would be to impregnate them all and create a race of super-beings.
  8. Lindsey Lohan Britney Spears Paris Hilton Kim Kardashian The girl from The Hills Yeah. I hate myself so it'd be a self-loathing kind of deal.
  9. This seems like a stellar idea.
  10. Are You Ready For The Country with Nels on lap steel? Yes please!!!
  11. I just saw a video via p4k of Weezer performing with Kenny G. That was a the craziest thing I've ever seen. Also a duet (a real duet......) of the lead single... not sure how I feel about that. Does Pat Wilson not perform drums with Weezer anymore??? Anyways, I've been listening to Weezer II (The Green Album) on my drive to work for the past few days. The last time I heard any of those songs has to be at least five years. The first four songs (and the last one) are really good. Rivers has a really good sense of melody... almost Beach Boyesque. I'd have made the production more organic and t
  12. I'm just going to go out and say it, that might be the best Weezer single since Island in the Sun. Too bad the rest of the album is so bad.

Dudes!!! You dudes!!! Molina and the boys have recorded a Day Trotter session, and yes... it is all sorts of good! Two new songs included and new arrangements of Dark Don't Hide It and entirely unrecognizable version of Trouble In Mind. Plus a medley of An Arrow in the Gale and Josephine! http://www.daytrotter.com/dt/magnolia-electric-co-concert/20030931-37382065.html One of those six albums is coming out soon, Molina & Johnson! You can download a song now. I'm about to pre-order. http://www.secretlycanadian.com/onesheet.php?cat=SC195
  14. Magnolia Electric Co's Josephine wins it for me. Both the Wilco and Andrew Bird albums I thought were good. I also listened to Dark Was The Night a lot this year. Pretty good stuff.
  15. Mikael Samuelsson: 11 games, 5G, 5A, 10 Points. Yeaaahhhh boooiii. Grabner is also doing well in his first callup, with 2 goals, 3 assists in 6 games. That Raymond - Kesler - Grabner line might just be the fastest in the league.
  16. Ok... but that doesn't really acknowledge pop-music duets. If it's just two singers singing together in unison then why isn't a Wilco song with a lot of John's backing vocals considered a duet?? A (vocal) duet is when two singers sing back and forth (usually with singing in unison saved for the chorus!!), such as "If I Were A Carpenter".
  17. A lot of people confuse "duet" with "harmony". Mozambique isn't really a duet, neither of them have their own lines. Same with the Wilco and Feist song. At least that's how I've always seen it. Anyways, Johnny Cash and June Carter had some good duets.
  18. Interesting that you say that. The Prettiest Girl was released on Rivers second solo/demo album. It dates back to 1997. Might explain why it is an enjoyable listen... but the full-band arrangement kills it for me (specifically the unneeded douchieness of the rhythm guitar). The melody and lyrics are classic Weez however. Actually, I'm going to go out on a whim here and say Rivers played it live when he was in school, during Weezer's hiatus. Yeah I was a big fan when I was a boy.
  19. I can't figure out just how they took a band song, Can't Stop Partying (see: the demo version from Rivers solo album) and somehow made it worst.
  20. This has leaked. I can't decide if Can't Stop Partying is the best thing Weezer has done in a decade or the worst.... Oh wait.. it's definitely the worst. EDIT: Listened to more of this. Not the best thing Weezer has done. Though, it's nice to see them have fun and not take themselves so seriously.
