  1. Wilco / Tweedy poetry books libraries names maps sushi
  2. I was musing over that one yesterday myself. Thanks for explicating it. Also, I keep bursting into a giggling fit when I listen to "Shake It Off" because the first time I heard the lyrics as: When I
  3. I may have thought it possible to make a list like this before I went and read the lists that have already been posted. It's too Sophie's Choice for me -- I can't do it. But damn, I wish I could sit around and drink beer/listen to music with you people in real life. Great lists.
  4. What a great Wilco week! First SBS arrives, then my preorder tickets for this show have been shipped. I am getting really excited. Only 35 days away!
  5. According to Wikipedia, there is a kind of weasel called the South Weasel that does live in South Asia. Plenty of monkeys there. No word on whether they give chase to weasels, though.
  6. I'd like to think that it wouldn't bother me... but I'm kind of an elitist, so in reality it probably would bother me a lot. It wouldn't turn me into a non-fan, of course, but I'd pine for the days when I had the only car in town with Wilco stickers on it.
  7. I just looked on the UNKL website and they're $49.94. Crazy.
  8. I think my whole list has already been mentioned, but: 001 - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 002 - Cold Roses 901 - Summerteeth 902 - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out 801 - Workers Playtime 802 - The Queen Is Dead 701 - Ladies of the Canyon 702 - Blood on the Tracks 601 - Rubber Soul 602 - The Gilded Palace of Sin
  9. I just got floor tickets! I am so happy.
  10. I feel like a jerk for asking because I am such a lurker. But trust me, I will be pre-ordering the CD just as soon as I am able. Could someone PM me too? (I missed the stream because I was conked out with a sinus infection. Excuses, excuses.) EDIT: got it! Thanks so much!
  11. The first time I ever saw Yo La Tengo was with Lambchop. It was at the 930 Club in D.C., February 2000. Sweet memories. It was an amazing show. I am glad that you had a similar experience! I am seeing YLT a week from Friday, but the Rosebuds are opening. I am looking forward to it very much.
  12. What I could hear of the music sounded good, but I did not have a very good time. The bar was overwhelmingly smoky, and the regulars would not pipe down so that the [all acoustic] music could be heard. This was not a good place to see a show. The people who were close enough to hear seemed to be enjoying it a lot, though. I was surprised at how much Jay has let himself go since his Wilco days. I mean, he wasn't exactly an adonis before, either, but I've seen homeless people who look healthier than he did on Thursday night.
  13. Me too. That song is really sad. "Nowhere Near" by Yo La Tengo.
  14. I think she's full of crap. Regardless, it's sad that they had a child together. Yet another poor little rich girl, I guess.
  15. This is a memoir by a woman who said yes to everyone who asked her on a date for a year. (That would be like three dates for me, but it's many for her.)
  16. Another one of those tough questions with mutable answers... It's then I'll think of you and I'll wonder if you knew When I got blue and things got weird And I started growing Bob Dylan's beard
  17. I think that I am getting to the point where I am going to go out of my way to avoid things mentioned in new threads started by brand new posters here. The spamming is just getting ridiculous.
  18. I've barely been more than a lurker here, but VC is my favorite online community and I appreciate your hard work to keep it going. Happy retirement!
  19. I've watched it at least 5 times. I never get tired of it.
