Dr. Steve Brule replied to insideoutoflove's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
this is all I got. I had too much fun for excess photographing. I remember being in a few though. -

Crap, I was just about to announce that nobody was getting in UNLESS they do that! Uh and I had that poster in high school!

Living Room Show Pre-Party!

Sooz and I are going to try and make it after I close the store at 10. Hopefully you'll be going full blast by then! -
Based on $$ alone, this is the "rarest" thing I own. Thankfully I paid $8 for mine. Part of me says I should by the new 180 gram version of it as a "play" copy but then what's the point in having the damn thing? I do play it a lot, I love the album. As far as what I'd grab off the wall in a fire, my Golden Smog "Down By The Old Mainstream" poster signed by everyone.

Following in the traditions of Hotel SnS Pre-parties including Basement Rock Fest 2006 (aka the one with the brownies) and I Hate The 90s 2007(aka the one with the Jell-O Shots) we are proud to take you to Hell this year. Rock-N-Roll Hell!! Come in costume as your favorite deceased musician! Play a song in character! Enjoy some Jell-O shots! Feel free to bring something in a can or bottle. PM me for details. I know a few out-of towners are attending.

Dinosaur Jr Headlining Pitchfork Night 3!
Dr. Steve Brule replied to Degenerex's topic in Someone Else's Song
Saturday is half bands i love, half i hate. tough call. Jarvis might do it. -
I'm replying to this rather late to the party, but what the hell. I was fortunate enough to see them at the Old Town School a few weeks ago. If you're not familiar with the venue it is a super intimate little theatre, there are maybe ten rows on the floor, and truly not a bad seat in the house. The sound is always amazing, and the show totally felt like some weird high school music recital, except with some of the most exquisitely crafted songs being played instead of the crap you would normally get at a high school recital. I had never seen TMF live (hell, I barely knew what they looked li

I don't think I would consider them an 80s band. Just buy all their albums though.
-
Do yourself a favor and pick up the Mission of Burma deluxe reissues Matador just put out. They are a band who do not sound like the 80s.

Dang Leo. I wish I had gotten yr number. I think we'll be at the L&L on Belmont before the show if you read this.

I am a little worried about this alleged winter storm if they're coming from Milwaukee. It's only a few hours drive so, so I guess they could make it tomorrow once it stops. Half the time forecasts are wrong though.

I'll be there with Larry Mendte. I'll be wearing a shirt with an arrow that says "I'm with Larry Mendte".

this is the way to go. The wait for the new R.E.M. is killing me. I saw the video on mtv2 and loved it, dl'd the torrent, but decided against clicking it. I have to avoid message board threads because I don't want to know what people are saying. Hopefully people will see that releasing press copies early is a big mistake. Who buys magazines for reviews anyways? RIP Harp magazine.

There's nothing in our order database so unless they're doing it themselves it doesn't seem likely.

Ditto. the vinyl is hot pink!

Andrew Bird Bonnie "Prince" BIlly Crowded House Decemberists ELO Flaming Lips GBV Howe Gelb Iron and Wine Joy Division (J was HARD!) Kinks Liam Finn Magnolia Electric Co. New Order of Montreal Prince Queen R.E.M. I'm sorry, should I quit? I cannot choose between Sloan and Scott Walker. And I can't pick Walker Brothers because then there's no Wilco. I forfeit.

It hasn't been released yet. As in available to buy in stores...

The Friday show is in the evening. Last year when Sonic Youth played the end of the first nite we just sort of wandered around and had a good time.

I am completely unexcited so far. I love M Ward and Boris but I'll wait for an indoor show.

You cannot lose with the first 3 albums released by Nesmith and First National. I'm glad they're getting a little notice. People tend to write off the Monkees but if you take all his stuff from the Monkees records and put it on a disc or two it may blow your mind.

Patrick Swayze has five weeks to live.
Dr. Steve Brule replied to Katie3's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I think that's the tabloid exageration. Check a more reliable news source like NY Times over Star or Us.
