  1. I have a pair of those wireless ones. Hopefully the guy I dated that worked at Gamestop doesn't want them back anytime soon.
  2. I'm not Wendy but she was there I think, I was too! I stood next to Rick during the last show of the residency. FKA: Samorama.
  3. I was supposed to go to a midnight sale tonite, but saw a band instead. I work all day tomorrow so my roommate is picking it up. I can't wait!
  4. I was samorama on here since the beginning of VC time, which I picked as the domain name for my blog in 2001 when I moved to Chicago. I wanted something easy to remember. People have indeed remembered. I didn't realize we had the ability to change our names, and have just been enamored with John C. Rilley's character from Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job. so yeah. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0JPta0Z1_8
  5. I kinda doubt it. I have been wrong before though. Tonight I was playing it in the store and this older dude who comes in and buys weird DVDs asked "where's the reefer, man?" which in my book is a good sign.
  6. I'm still on the fence. I didn't like the first 2 Malkmus albums but loved Face the Truth. This one is soooo guitary, which isn't really a bad thing. I think it's going to grow on me. I'll keep playing. The LP has one of the best gatefolds I've seen.
  7. I had seen Wilco 7/31/2002 in Madison and then had to work the next day. This is my recollection: So, we get back Thursday, and I'm instructed to go the Hideout afterwards. ...It was some sort of soiree in honor of the Wilco movie after the Jon Langford and the Sadies (show which I didn't even see). A fabulous 12 piece Wilco cover band (old school Old Town ensemble) took the stage and wowed the crowd (including the real Wilcos) with their renditions. The rousing "California Stars" included the "lovely" vocal stylings of Dave Sadowski. Thankfully, the real Wilcos releaved us by playing a few.
  8. It was a fund raiser. The bands made no money. 100% of the ticket price went to Obama. Everyone had to sign a form about their donation.
  9. I did not know this: http://nymag.com/fashion/08/spring/44210/index4.html
  10. As big a fan of Jay Ryan's art that I am, I had NEVER seen his band play! It's pretty unusual to have 2 basses, and drums, but it sounded great. Andrew played a handful of songs with them that were just beautiful (no vocals on most, pretty female vocals on a couple) and I guess he's going to be on their new album. Andrew came back out alone and did a wonderful set. 2 older songs, 2 from the last album, then Nora O'Connor joined him for vocals on a couple of Handsome Family songs! Dianogah joined them on the last few songs and they really sounded amazing all together. I am still lukewarm on
  11. I agree with TG on almost all of her statements. I watch FG and it's okay, but I could go without ever seeing again. Stewie was better when he was evil and not gay (not that there's anything wrong with that).
  12. Love them. For a while Ryan, Wilco's light guy was also drumming with them, but he quit to play with Vee Dee full time. Well, full time being when Wilco's not on tour
  13. I really don't mind paying .99 though.
  14. 1. The Creation 2. The Action 3. John's Children 4. The Small Faces 5. The Sorrows
  15. I am keeping my fingers crossed for iTunes single track availability.
  16. hearfullofholes? godshapedhole? mike.. was that his name? We met him at the Loose Fur shows too!
  17. It would help the artist more to buy the CD new. It helps the indie store to buy it used. Buy it used and buy a ticket to see the band, or a tshirt at the show.
  18. Two days after the release of YHF!! I guess all 25 were talking about it!!
  19. I don't remember the board looking like this: http://web.archive.org/web/20020409224109/...phpBB/index.php This one looks more familiar: http://web.archive.org/web/20020802162905/...hpBB2/index.php
  20. I have no idea when I originally joined. My first big meeting of VCers IRL was the Loose Fur shows in Brooklyn in December 2002. Soozanne and I went together and met the wilcas, pneyu and bbop for the first time. It wasn't until our hesitant trip to a bar after the show that we realized we were all on VC. I remeber thinking how nice Paul was for paying the majority of our tab and being shocked Uyen was not a guy. Things haven t changed much. Well, I'm more at ease with Uyen being a lady.
