  1. I'll have to watch for that. I would love to see someone take my bias to the point of hilarious parody. Or maybe that would just make me mad.....
  2. There was a really interesting conversation on the Daily Show last week between John Stewart and a Fox pundit. Basically John was suggesting that MSNBC being the liberal narrative to counter Foxes conservative narrative might not be as helpful as one might think. It definitely seems to put them in line for adding to the whole Confederacy of Dunces element we have going on in our political dialog in the U.S. Olbermann can be a bit silly, and obviously too holier-than-thou for a pundit that's throwing political donations around, but he just can't compete with the utter insanity of Glenn Be
  3. Farrar would never swallow his pride to do this, until he sunk so low as to release an album with a title and lyrics that are overt references to both Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie in a last gasp to choke out what little is left in the tired lexicon of "Americana". Oh wait.....
  4. I agree Mr. Catfish. I was listening to the song More Like the Moon and thinking about frayed edges. That tune is much less "impressive" then a ton of other stuff they've done, but it communicates so much.... I definitely think the guys would be wise to take some risks. It sounds like they're planning on spending some time and doing just that.
  5. It has begun. I'm just kidding. No, I get you. I think the last two records have outstanding A sides and mediocre B sides. I think sometimes I scratch my head at folks on here. Not because I'm offended. It's silly to be offended by someone subjectively judging a piece of art to be unsatisfactory. No, I scratch my head in wonder. It's interesting to try and understand what motivates people who seem so nonplussed, and have been for a long time. It would be like if I was on the Ridley Scott, or Martin Scorsese chat board discussing how long it has been since I thoroughly enjoyed a film
  6. While it is obviously not to your liking I think much of WTA is what this lineup sounds like doing 60's or 70's pop tunes. Sonny Feeling, Deeper Down, You Never Know, Everlasting Everything are pretty 60's/70's to me. One thing I'm almost sure of is whatever the next record sounds like, there will be at least several things I love about it. Even more certain there will be a large crowd of people complaining about it on here. Explaining why they're fans of a band they don't care for anymore.
  7. Not the paparazzi/ US Weekly linked thread I was expecting.....
  8. Kinda pretty. Not a bad sound for that genre.... not much of a trace of the original in tact though. Seems like they added more new sounds than actually manipulated old ones, but then again filters, delays and reverbs can do strange things.
  9. I like the last two records. I don't really care which "direction" they go. Every album has sounded so different. I just want top shelf Wilco songs. When I look back at AGIB, it's not for the style it's for the song quality. I think 100% of AGIB is classic. I think both of the last two records are about 50% Classic and 20% pretty good. AGIB had rock outs, blue eyed soul, folkiness, experimentation, pop. So have the last two. They just need to write a bit more, cut a few more as B-sides and take their time. I think half of SBS and half of W(TA) would make something that would rival AG
  10. Sounds like he loves being in the band and making music with different people.
  11. Tweedy produced it, he didn't engineer it. Still a pretty big say in the sound, though. To me it sounds like a good, warm, no frills recording.
  12. Cornershop- Brim Full of Asha Noah and the Whale- Mary Tin Hat Trio- Hotel Aurora Vince Guaraldi Trio- Christmastime is Here Justin Hinds and Dominoes- Save a Bread Steve Earle- Over Yonder (Johnathan's Song) The Black Keys- Too Afraid to Love You The Beatles- Wild Honey Pie Bluetip- Bad Flat Paul Simon- Cool, Cool River Weird list. This is a good Mix. Anywhere you can find Stiff Little Fingers AND Tom Ze is a good place.
  13. It should be an Onion headline: Wilco Fan Already Imagining Disappointment in Next Album
  14. Yes he did. So that means: Andrew Bird, Richard Swift, Steve Malkamus, and Mavis Staples have all recorded there. Geez.
  15. Woops. Found it: http://wilcoworld.net/records/bonus/ Feel free to delete, mods. Sorry.
  16. Hey all. I know this comes up like once a year, but somehow I don't have a digital or physical copy of More Like the Moon and I wanted to put it on a mix for someone. I am totally willing to buy it, but there seems to be no vendors out there of that in digital world. Suggestions?
  17. Yeah, I've kind of had a rough go of things on a personal level this summer. I definitely have gotten a lot of comfort out of this song, and have given the Mavis version over at pitchfork a spin almost every day. Some days more than once.
  18. Un mil de gracias. Esta cancion es bella.
  19. This stuff is genius. Magnolia Electric Co "Dark Don't Hide It" Something held me down it made me make a promise That I wouldn’t tell if the truth forgets about us Saying it now comes easily After finding out how you’ve been using me At least the dark don’t hide it (x4) You only said you wanted friends For long enough to get rid of them You found the kind you knew would only kill you So you surrounded yourself with them At least the dark don’t hide it (x4) Now the world was empty on the day when they made it But heaven needed someplace to throw all the shit Human hearts and pain sho
  20. "Es oficial: no se puede sonar mejor que Wilco." It's official: you can't sound better than Wilco.
  21. Great song. Love the lyrics. The arrangement and mood is really cool. I don't get the distaste for it, or the album in general. Honestly I think both SBS and W(TA) are both amazing albums with about 3 or 4 weak points on each. I will happily take several more years of Wilco albums if 7 songs out of 11 are as thoroughly enjoyable, original, and well developed as their recent batting average has been. I like thinking about triremes row, I like singing along about the comfort of a kiss. Great for driving to work. That's just me....
  22. Good evening..... good night..... thankyou. And with that I'm going to bed. Its been fun kids.
  23. These guys have amazing amounts of energy. They're gonna need to sleep for 12 hours after this.
