  1. This thread is painful, but I still find it funny, not because people still fall for it, but because you goof balls still get a kick out of it.........jerks.
  2. Yeah, they will gain familiarity with the majority of their catalog so I imagine the sets after the residency will be all over the map.
  3. Yeah I think the kids/relations sharing facial features makes sense. The song seems to span eras and family members in a way that creates a loose kind of temporal distortion. These old ideas of struggling families (working in the gold mine) give way to a present scenario that has a similar kind of angst. Stories fit into phones, houses hemmed into homes etc. Through the chaotic world people find someway to bind a family together. Happy holidays.
  4. I'm reminded of Bender in "The Breakfast Club"........"B-O-O.....H-O-O!"
  5. I imagine a Brendan Canty shot feature that would have that high grade digital/nice colors look he gets. It would feature five nights at the Riv split up the shows and the sets to get everything from Casino Queen to Forget the Flowers to Pieholden Suite to Reservations etc. Lots of backstage footage/interviews exploring the bands musical phases and life on the road. More personality from the mysterious Pat Sansone and Mikael Jorgensen. Glenn Kotche making jokes with their deli tray while he tapes up his fingers. John Stiratt being super mellow and friendly to the road crew. Nels putting
  6. I've always disliked that song, and fought off the temptation to make the most obvious and terrible joke based on the name. I will not. Phew, had to get that off my chest. I will still be happy for you if they play it. I myself would be over the moon for the AGIB style Panthers and the Good Part. But no one has a firm answer on b-sides.
  7. Has anyone thought that these boys are going to have to rehearse their ASSES OFF for these shows. Thats going to be way hard. Some one shoot us a total assuming they only play album tracks and no B sides. Thats going to be a memory work out.
  8. I would say Wilco had a pretty productive 2007 what with an album, a Grammy nomination, and a bunch of shows the world over. What do we expect in 2008? A live dvd? Rumors of recording an early 09 released album? Or maybe another album will even come out........ New collaborations/side projects?
  9. I would be a strong proponent of both Neko Case and Joni Mitchell over Lucinda Williams, but we all like different flavors......I didn't mean that in a sexist way.
  10. This can be annoying, but it seems it's warranted in our conversation. What exactly is genius supposed to mean? Here's what dictionary.com says: 1. an exceptional natural capacity of intellect, especially as shown in creative and original work in science, art, music, etc.: the genius of Mozart. 2. a person having such capacity. 3. a person having an extraordinarily high intelligence rating on a psychological test, as an IQ above 140. 4. natural ability or capacity; strong inclination: a special genius for leadership. 5. distinctive character or spirit, as of a nation, period, or language.
  11. I see, I can't say that I agree but you clarify your point well. Genius (or no) aside, I think the wealth of material on Dylan has in part sprung up from our eras thirst for new mythologies, new figures that are easier for modern folks to identify with. The worship of Dylan may be Christ-like at times, but really we love him for existential reasons. We love that he has done great things of a seemingly contradictory variety while never claiming to be essentially anything.
  12. I didn't think the movie came out all that great either, but I don't think that has to do with Bob Dylan being great. Any of your friends put out a dozen albums that push the artistic and lyrical envelope while garnering unprecedented popularity for what traditional music fans would consider a 'bad' singing voice? Why is he on you're avatar?
  13. Hardly Accounted For There was a fire on Sixteenth Street, in the house where the bastard had lied through his teeth. And had left her to a basement full of ashtrays and cats, so she had an abortion or something simple like that. She smelled smoke as she walked from the liquor store, that had learned her name in three days or four. The house was just like wicker as the smoke got thick, with her boxes full of his things where the kittens hid. A quick count of heads showed no one to risk for; they turned the hoses on the roofs of the houses next door. Running up the street with a bag in her ha
  14. I won't side on the boo hissing, but I will say I see a lot more of it when the band is less active and we're not awaiting or assesing a new release. Wilco fans get lethargic and grouchy when they don't have a new book/movie/album coming around. That's when the trivial retrospective feuds start. On that note who's better at "getting mild" onstage, Leroy Bach or Mikael Jorgensen?
  15. Who can dislike Mikael Jorgensen. Thats like saying you don't like Grover, or Kermit the Frog, or Leroy Bach. The dude is humble and musical. He might not drive the visual aspects of the live show but he contributes a lot of texture and harmony.
  16. Yeah I think the JB thing was an issue of someone taking complete control and alienating other members and potentially the bands frontman/primary songwriter. Not an attention thing. If Tweedy was a bed-wetter about attention he would of canned Sansone the first time he donned a vest, teased his hair and did a grandiose windmill at the very edge of the stage.
  17. Best Moment: Radio Cures live in Denver. Missed Moment: Still haven't heard a couple studo outtakes from the SBS sessions that could have been on the tour EP.
  18. What's that? Does that mean Less Than You Think?
  19. I have found the "Ghosts of the..." album to be infinitely more engaging than anything else he has done. To the degree that it's hard to understand that it is the work of the Red House Painters creator. Does anyone else share this affliction. Any way, heres to hoping the Sun Kil Moon moniker brings more genius.
  20. I saw them in Denver. Outstanding. They have the MMJ effect of taking catchy, somewhat mellow songs from an album and giving them more power live. Enough power to induce rhythmic head thrusting from audience members. I also like that they were the worst dressed band I've seen in a long time. They looked like they just got done skiing, that kind of fashion oblivion is a virtue in todays hot-selling indie market.
  21. When is this antiquated, backwoods attitude towards socialized health care going to croak? I've known countless Americans who work hard and pay through the nose for crappy medical insurance that covers little and demands constant co-pays etc. Insurance companies are one of the most absurd, immoral and corrupt entities we have in American business. How much do you think it would really cost us all to pay tax on a universal plan? More than your monthly bill? The government doesn't just give people health care, the people give the government the power to give each other health care. And
  22. Fairport Convention (especially unhalfbricking) Baby Huey Battles Scout Niblet X
  23. THis is the same response I got for my Wilco vs. Chocolate thread, I mean come on it's an honest question if you were a hot dog would you.........? Just a question.
