  1. Yeah and after that they'll invite Bennett and Farrar on to the stage to sing duets.
  2. The most consistently fascinating part of this history to me is this combination of facts: 1. Anodyne kicks the crap out of A.M. 2. Trace kickes the crap out of A.M. 3. Everything else in the Wilco catalog kicks the crap out of everything Jay Farrar ever struggled to put his name on. Obviously this is just my taste, and exaggerated for effect (i.e. these are not facts), but I've heard other people say this. How is it that Tweedy was such a late bloomer while Farrar blew his load and then just kept mumbling?
  3. Well the difference is Wilco is awesome and MTV sucks. If I recall (I don't have cable) MTV stopped playing music years ago, and what little they have is all crunk. I don't really think the MTV audience (12-20 year old, pop culture consumers) has Wilco written all over it. Now if Justin Timberlake did an unplugged that shit would be on!
  4. I was watching the download of the Bonaroo set (which is awesome) and I noticed some different gear up there. Jeff still has his awesome Vox head, but in place of his old Marshall Plexi he'd been rocking he had some other head. The resolution on my screen was incredibly low so I couldn't read the brand except that it starts with an S. Nels has the same brand but his head is red. Anyone notice what kind of amps these are?
  5. So wait....it starts in D major but what's the other key that it switches to?
  6. right now, and nels is answering a question in length!!!!!
  7. I saw them at the Filmore and it was a life changing event. Then I saw them at Red Rocks and it was almost as good as a life changing event. I am glad to see them at the Filmore again. You can push your way to the front if you don't mind standing for two hours and get a really good view of the boys and the sound is totally perfect. Can't wait!
  8. #1. Because we don't agree with your holier than thou attitude we are unhappy? #2. We need a life for discussing our favorite rock band on the internet, yet you do not for posting simple minded and pretentious attacks on strangers? I am sure it is quite fun to irritate people, congratulations.
  9. Hey if you like his records, fuck yeah! But don't try to tell someone you don't know how to live. That's absurd, do you think that guy needs your advice Floyd Walpole misunderstodd with 127 posts, member no. 14685. If you wanna talk songs, records, riffs, hell, even if you have something to argue about some VW commercial post it, but no one here is looking for a lifestyle sermon.
  10. They're awesome. Only complaint is a very subtle signal loss when using the effect at extremely high intensity. As far as sound quality, its just as good as the spring reverb on my Marshall JCM2000, only it has more options.
  11. I seem to remember him saying something about how he got it to Burke too late for the album. Not so sure though.
  12. agreed, most overrated band since.......frampton.
  13. WORST THREAD EVER (add picture of simpsons comic book guy)
  14. My girlfriend got it as a bonus disc with the vinyl. Its absurdly good. I never heard that song so huge before, I wonder how it didn't make Kicking Television.
  15. I think the mp3 release is most likely the last we will hear of it aside from live performances. I think if they intended to put it on another LP they would have sat on it (sure Handshake Drugs resurfaced, but they were still changing it.) Here's whats curious about the SBS sessions. We have the 12 album tracks and: 13. One True Vine 14. Let's Not Get Carried Away 15. The Thanks I Get 16. (we assume Lets Fight) 17. ? 18. ? Along with hearing a studio version of Let's Fight, I would love to find out what the other tracks sound like. More blue eyed soul? More big rockin' classic rock? M
  16. Oh, no, your English is not to blame. Just a general misunderstanding. As far as I know the CD allows you to download "The Thanks I Get" and if you have the deluxe version it comes with the DVD, which shows alternate versions of the album songs performed in the loft. If I'm forgetting another bonus maybe someone will fill us in.
  17. Nine alternate songs??? No one told me about those. Are you sure? I got 'The Thanks I Get' but I think thats it.
  18. I like how many times on the commentary track Tweedy mentions: a. his awful haircut. b. his big butt.
  19. Jorgensen's improvisation coming into the second quiet section of YAMF is totally gorgeous.
  20. Just got it. Yes, yes, yes, yes to this version.
  21. Your English makes my German look terrible. Sounds like a fun show. Wish I could've seen Wilco in Deutschland.
  22. Tom Waits has gone to court with companies for using his material against his wishes. He said something to the effect of "A song should exist within its own world, and allow you to build your own associations around it. When a commercial forces a product association with a great song some of the magic is lost." I'll never get over the Kinks song from Village Green in the HP commercial. It dissapoints me how much it reminds me of the commercial everytime I hear what is essentially a great song. That being said I don't watch TV these days so I think the songs won't be dirtied. Likewise, i
  23. The way I see it is Down With Wilco has about five great songs on it. A.M. has about three good songs on it. You can't really compare the two cause they are driven by different singers. What I will compare is "Family Gardener" being better than everything on AM.
  24. Bill Fay's voice hasn't changed much over the years. This is unexpected and great. A little loose and impromptu sounding. First time on stage in 30 years!
