What albums are you looking forward to this year?

Laura Marling -
Yeah exactly. Being constantly politically vigilant is going to be tiring. I guess that's what they're counting on.

At least they can be shamed out of doing something awful.

That came fast. I think we're in for a whirlwind the next few months.

I locked the old politics thread. It's interesting to randomly click around and see where it went. The early conversations were dominated with gun control vs gun rights, which dare I say seems pretty secondary at this point in the national conversation. Things got awfully slow at the end, I think from exhaustion and also it seems all of the participants in the thread, no matter what their political philosophy, were less-than-thrilled with the president elect. At some point retreading that feels tedious. I like how that thread stayed civil at least 96% of the time which is about all you can

I was just thinking today about how differently these two English groups approached the blues; Led Zep and the Stones.

Almost that time of the year. Top 10 albums of 2016

Thanks! Never heard of, nor heard. I'm streaming now.... I dig it. My first impression is it's about half way between Car Seat Headrest and Real Estate (to use some very contemporary references).... er maybe a less aggressive Cloud Nothings. Another P.S.- Dr. Dog released an album for charity only available on their bandcamp site. I need to buy it. I streamed it once and it's awesome. -

P.S. You know who fell right out of critical memory? PJ Harvey. It seems that Hope Six record didn't really connect with most folks. -

I don't have 10 (this was a good read to help me search) but half of Mr. Heartbreak's was disappointments. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed: Schmilco Big Thief-Masterpiece (which I ignored for months cause I thought the name was stupid) The I Don't Cares Teenage Fanclub Andrew Bird- Are You Serious Angel Olsen- My Woman Tribe Called Quest (still digesting) Bob Mould- Patch the Sky Russian Circles-Guidance All of my friends have been freaking out about the new Run the Jewels, but I haven't investigated their older stuff yet so I guess I have catching up to do. -

What newish bands did you get into this year?
lost highway replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Oh, I forgot my new supergroups: The I Don't Cares (Paul Westerberg and Julianna Hatfield) Case/Lang/Veirs (Neko Case, K.D. Lang and Laura Veirs) -
I would say this is one of their best, if not their best love songs ever. Also, I'd say although You and I has had mixed reactions, but I think in terms of perspective it's kind of a fresh look at the love song.
