  4. Thank you for mentioning this Andrew! The huge Sweet spot the racquets now have makes it a totally different game. When Prince came out w/ those in the '70's we referred to them as "pussy" or"cheater' racquets, and I never woulda thought they'd catch on but...what do i know? "Nasty" sure was fun to watch!

  6. Although Syd evidently had a major tear in the fabric of reality due to psychedelics, that began to happen just as the Floyd were poised to become very popular (i.e. TV shows, radio, huge concerts, etc.) The band HAD to get rid of him to get to the next rung in the rock-n-roll business,as his behavior seemed to deliberately sabotage their dreams of wealth & fame.It could be said that having seen the seemy underbelly of RXR success,Syd actually reacted in a quite reasonable fashion & decided that to return to his first love (painting) & live the normal, mundane existence that most non r

Unfortunately, that's often the case but...if they all had great taste imagine how hard it would be to get Wilco tickets Really not much of anything I can think of from my adult life that I'd consider embarrassing but when I was 16 I bought the then-new Ted Nugent-Double Live Gonzo.Probably hasn't had a spin since Reagan's 1st term Scott

  13. Amen to that It does seem rather odd that one feels most inspired when things are at a low ebb, doesn't it?? Doesn't necessarily have to be that way...as Jerry Garcia was quoted as saying"I'm more interested in what can be created from pure joy" (of course,he was a stone cold junkie for most of his last 20 yrs. on the planet ...talk about a walking contradiction) Scott

  15. Unbelievable! 2 weeks of Wimbledon & no thread...well,better late than never Roger Federer...what can be said about this guy? 48 straight matches won on grass..no losses since '02 4 straight Wimbledon Championships..up there w/ Rod Laver..only Borg & Sampras have more (& he's only 24!) Lost ONE SET the whole tournament(today) I can't root for the obvious favorite, but damn this guy is playing some of the best tennis I've ever seen.Borg was a hero of mine in my teenage years, and Sampras was an all-timer,but Federer deserves to be thought of with the greats...would/could he wi

  21. I wonder who they are The men who really run this land And I wonder why they run it With such a thoughtless hand What are their names And on what streets do they live I'd like to ride right over This afternoon and give Them a piece of my mind About peace for mankind Peace is not an awful lot to ask..
  22. Yep,I completely understand what you're saying...esp. about getting old.It seems like I see more of my friends at funerals now instead of shows. Scott
