  1. That's a good thing,man...but one thing is for sure....your avatar is the god-forsaken cat I've ever seen,or ever hope to see Scott
  2. '68-'74 are the peak years, but there's gold to be found everywhere. As far as LPs my 2 favorties are Anthem of the Sun (1968) & Blues for Allah(1975).For starters though,Workingman's & American Beauty are hard to beat,& not difficult to listen to at anytime.Anthem & Allah are for when you've maybe indulged in whatever is your inclination. Live Dead is the Holy Grail & really is one of the best live LPs of all time, any genre. Hope you get hooked (especially since I no longer have to worry about getting shut out on tickets ) Scott
  3. Well FZ is partially responsible for being a major catalyst in my warped life. When Michelle & I first got together,I had her listen to Joe's & read the libretto...and SHE'S STILL HERE YHF,of course! Easily my fave record of this millenium. As far as the term 'alt-country' goes, one of the true pioneers of the genre imo is NRPS with their 1st LP Scott

  8. Arabian wind The Needle's Eye is thin The Ships of State sail on mirage And drown in sand Out in No-Man's Land Where Allah does command What good is spilling blood? It will not grow a thing "Taste eternity",the sword sings Blues for Allah In'sh'Allah They lie where they fall There's nothing more to say The desert stars are bright tonight Let's meet as friends The Flower of Islam The Fruit of Abraham The thousand stories have Come 'round to one again Arabian night Our Gods pursue their flight What fatal flowers of darkness spring From seeds of light Bird of Paradise---fly In white

Scott
  11. Thanks,Lammy I haven't heard this but it's almost as good as the one from Cape Cod on 10/27/79...that's a killer set! As I said on 8/1,for 8 daze it's all Jerry here...a nice way to remember good times and of course be surprised by some off-the-wall licks. As crazy as this may seem to non-initiates,I was actually way more sad when Jer passed than I have been at a number of my relatives passing on...didn't even know the guy...but I guess in a way I did Scott
