I know you've heard of the curse of the Bambino...well here we got the curse of Johnny U. The Colts will never,EVER win the Super Bowl in Indy (discount 1970) because of the low-down,snakey way they left Baltimore in the middle of the night. Great team on paper...kinda like the Dallas Cowboys of the Meredith/Morton years...maybe I'll eat my words but I'm betting I won't have to

Favorite Bob Dylan one- or two-liners...
mountain bed replied to Atticus's topic in Someone Else's Song
Man,the topic here is so overwhelming to consider...Bob's got more one/two liners that just drill you to the floor than anyone else in RXR.I didn't know where to start so I thought I'd consult the book... Where black is the color, and none is the number... In the night a hound dog bayed In the night the grounds were groanin' In the night the price was paid... Your brain is a-bleedin' And your legs can't seem to stand Your eyes fix on the shotgun That you're holdin' in your hand... I can see that your head Has been twisted & fed By worthless foam from the mouth... In a soldier's s -

I just listened to a great version of PK Black last night & it reminded me of how underrated a song it is & ummm...the question??? As far as Country goes, you might not overtly hear it,but it sure can be high & lonesome sometimes...which is kinda country i guess

Pitchfork's 200 greatest songs of the 1960s
mountain bed replied to Jaymie's topic in Someone Else's Song
A small, small moment in time there...such a shame but I'm glad I got to dig a small part of it,thanks to older family & friends -
Although it can be hit-or-miss,the post-bop mid-sixties avant-jazz stuff was an amazing experience for me.It's not often i put some on 1st thing out of bed,but....sometimes yes The take of Trane doin' 'My Favorite Things' from the Village Vanguard on 5/28/66 is an example of how far out the music was going then from what it was just a couple of years before....you're a good piece into the song before you begin to even vaguely recognize something familiar...the guys are barely even GRAZING the root notes...but it takes you somewhere you never even thought of,& it feels damn good Sc

Right on EL EL I never understood why WASP Amerika branded Malcolm X as a racist & a honky-hater when if you read the man's texts he says many things that whitey would whole-heartedly endorse, like the sentence by you I just quoted. Self-actualization & empowerment were the crux of his speeches & I don't see how anyone, regardless of color, could disagree with that. Malcolm was a true hero of mine...especially after he broke from Elijah Muhammad & went to Mecca. Not to compare Sharpton to Malcolm (that's absurd) but he does make more sense in this time than the President (n
