  1. Still, the emissions on that think are said to contribute to the greenhouse effect. You selfish bastard.
  2. Exactly. Todd Walker's hit nailed him in the head. That wasn't pretty to watch. There was a brawl in the game, too.
  3. Kim got messed up with the bullpen-by-committe fiasco. Regardless, he was pretty inefficiant as a starter for BOS (though did decent as a closer), even though I believe he started that 25 to-(single digit) rout of FLA towards the end of his first season with BOS.
  4. Ditto! First show was New Haven that spring. Satisfaction encore, Minglewood opener. You?
  5. I'd totally sell out if I were in a band that had the ability to. Selling out is the pinacle of success.
  6. I'm a little surprised that "Jawbone" hasn't been cited more. I'm having trouble recalling the tune but I'm thinking "Jawbone" is probably the best answer here.
  7. Not a bad guess, but it goes like this: 1. Chocolate and Cheese 2. The Mollusk 3. Pure Guava 4. Quebec 5. GodWeenSatan 6. the rest Maybe when the first started out....Not now. Saw them at red Rocks for the first time in a long time this past fall and they are a full-on R7R band, as they have been for quite awhile.
  8. So, um, just talk about them, huh?
  9. I saw a Jorma Kaukonen/Jck Cassidy acoustic show at a place in Denver called the Paramount like 7 years ago that was mind-bendingly empty. There were maybe 50 people in a 3000-seat place. I've seen them before that and after that and there is always a decent crowd. These two are legends and for a reason. Weird night. They carried on like nobody's business, regardless.
  10. Ditto. The squelching gets to me. Though the riff I'm down with. I'd say "Moonlight Mile" is one of their most underrated tunes.
  11. I knew plenty of folks who called him the "Michael McDonald" of the band, thought his lyrics were too dark, thought he stunk the joint up, basically. He really brought new life to the band in '79, imo. He wrote some great tunes, added tons of color to the tunes with his amazing playing, and was really strong with the backing/harmonizing vocals. You could tell Garcia loved having him up on stage, too. There were times when Garcia would turn his back to the rest of the band and he and Brent would just play off eachother, both with huge, beaming, endearing smiles on their faces. I think Bob may h
  12. Yep, Brent. Always a big fan of the guy. There were detractors to be sure....
  13. Zappa's Joe's Garage trilogy. Not a big fan of the musical narrative, overall.
  14. Tom Petty is the first one that pops into my head. For whatever reason he really annoyed the shit out of me in the late 70s early/mid-80s. Wasn't until I started really listening to some of his lesser-known tunes that I began to appreciate him and even his more popular stuff. I think the guy has put out some amazing stuff over the span of his career.
  15. Grugahalle in Essen, W. Germany. Townshend sat in from after Drums on (NFA->Wharf Rat->Around-> Good Lovin'//Sat. Night. I think I still have the Dead's part of the double bill (Who played too, I believe) on VHSsomewhere. Here are a few decent clips of NFA->, Around->, AND ->WRat: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=de1Miicm3Bc http://vids.myspace....ideoID=29322658 http://video.tiscali...1135186943.html
  16. Over-poroduced extravaganzas like Tommy and Quadrophenia make By Numbers a welcome return to simple song-writing/compostitions, in my opinion. I actually find the lyrics quite humble on it.
  17. ?? Townsend sings two tunes on the whole album, one being one of the best tunes the Who does (imo).
