During last night's rain delay at Fenway they showed a video of Jon Papelbon and Manny Delcarmen mimicking Milli Vanilli's "Blame it on the Rain." Jerry Remy's comments always make me chuckle.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGGGA4lYs74

Utley is in an 0-23 slump. Still, nice numbers to this point.

Blue Jays can Gibbons (and staff) and re-hire Cito Gaston: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8266320...3162&ATT=49

From Schilling's blog today. Pretty humble, imo. And hey, he even says if he could do it over again he probably would have shut his mouth more often: http://38pitches.com/2008/06/20/not-a-thin...be-upset-about/

This Springsteen show from '73 hosted by Wolfgang's Vault: http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/dt/bruc...campaign=080620

He was still effective as a pitcher when healthy and will be missed as an important cog in the rotation for the remainder of the year. It's a drag that he's probably pitched his last pitch, but he's going out as a WS champion.

Schilling used to post in-depth personal analysis both on his blog, sosh, and other places detailing his outings. I think that's pretty cool. He can be a blowhard at times, but the guy's entitled to blog about whatever he wants to.

Julian Tavarez DFA'd again, by Brewers. That was a short stay... http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb

"Don't You Cry," I think. And the tune "The Blues" reminds me a little bit of "November Rain," minus the over-indulgence.

Vibes to the land down under....

Anybody have this one?

Cane River was excellent. I still haven't gotten around to Red River. Fante's Ask the Dust is excellent, too.
-
Doesn't this encapsulate the majority of regular-season games? This is pretty much standard fare for what passes for the NBA presently. I guess in that regard....

Different opinions. There are some pretty shitty tracks, but I'd say it's not a complete mess. It sounded like drum tracks/un-finished/demo stuff to me, too, on several tunes.
-
There are a few tracks I think are decent: "The Blues" was one of them.

Cheers, good man! -
Thanks for this. I'm sold! You, sir, just won yourself a convert.

ed. Listened to the supposedly finished tracks of Chinese Democracy. Some decent tunes but so-so overall. Certainly not 13-years-in-the-making worth it.

And came with that slab of bubble gum with the powdery shit all over it.

The Bird. Is it the '76 card? That guy was hot for a year and then faded away.

I (along with 4 brothers) collected tons of Topps baseball cards throughout the 70s. I wish I knew where they were today. I still have a handful from the 70s/80s (Glenn Hoffman, Rich Gedman, Lee Smith, Mike Hargrove, Mike Torrez, Thurman Munson, Bob Montgomery, Dave Parker, Bobby Bonds, Rollie Fingers, etc.). I picked up a Daisuke Matsuzaka Rookie card last year, as well as a Jim Rice card with a snippet of game-worn jersey in it. I also picked up the Topps entire 1986 Red Sox roster set.

Fantastic news out of the Bronx: NYY sign Sidney Ponson. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8259628...nks-sign-Ponson

I've seen P&F quite a bit since the inception and have always had a blast. I preferred the the Warren/Herring set-up, as well. The Chris Robinson stuff was pretty damn good, as was the Jon Scofield stuff, as was the Trey and Donna stuff, too. For whatever reason, to my ears and in general with but a few exceptions, the shows don't translate as well over to disc. I find myself infrequently listening to any of the shows after the fact.

Yes, but the BC have never shared a bill with them before (to my knowledge). Very nice double bill.
