Makes sense as he's tight with him and signed to his label, Brushfire, earlier in his career. I don't think I've ever listened to Jack Johnson, though, so I didn't have anything to compare DF to.

I'm with you here. Although Medeski and Martin have done some nice stuff with John Scofield that I like quite a bit. I like Sonny Sharrock and Rahsaan Roland Kirk quite a bit. I tend towards the more modern jazz of Pat Metheny and Chick Corea, too.

I disagree. I think you can do acid once and have a horrible experience that can mess you up a bit for good, and conversely do it many, many times and come out fine through the other end. It has so much to do with mental/physical make-up (this isn't to say weak-minded people freak out moreso on the stuff, either).
