  1. It's been noted that Jose Offerman's MLB numbers compare favorably to Phil Rizzuto's. HOF?
  2. There's a walk-off base hit for you, Coco.
  3. The main board (except only "Members Only," I think) is public viewing domain....
  4. If it was a thread title I don't recall it, but there is plenty of discussion on him in the "Former Sox: Tracking and Discussion" sub-thread of "MLB Discussion."
  5. Supposedly Weir and the rest of Ratdog sang the National Anthem at Fenway Park last night to kick off the BOS/TB game. they don't air the Nat. Anthem for the games on the MLB EI package so I can't verify this and I didn't catch mention of it during the game.... For anyone intersted and who hasn't seen/heard this, Weir, Garcia, and Vince sang a pretty decent version of the Anthem at a Giant's game in 1993:
  6. The Stage Stop Inn up in Rollinsville (right outside of Nederland). It's been taken over by new management in the last year or so and renovated. Very earthy vibe and the upstairs hosts the shows with a deck/balcony and second bar. Lots of room yet intimate. Another good place to catch music that way is the Chalet Suisse in Nederland. The Wolf Tongue Brewery used to get good bands, too. And there's the Ned Fest coming next weekend with, among others, Sam Bush, Steve Kimock, DJ Logic, Great American Taxi (Vince Herman from Leftover Salmon's excellent band)etc.: http://www.nedfest.com/
  7. Happy "34th" Old school (Double X and Gehrig and their respective numbers): And new:
  8. I watched an Intervention episode on dvr a few nights ago on a chick named "Lanie" and it was pretty damn depressing. The best show, for my money, on A&E is The First 48.
  9. "How 'Bout You" is an excellent tune: great beat, decent lyrics, and some damn fine pickin'. I've got no beef with the "jamgrass" bands utilizing technology or trying their hand at varying styles (the trance-like stuff with SCI...they were huge at Burninhg Man, I've heard). I'd also argue that SCI is /was still relevant up to the end due to their popularity and respect garnered on them by old-timers who've been around for awhile lauding them. But yes, it is all a matter of opinion anyway, so....
  10. Haven't been to a SCI show in a few years and I'm sure there's still plenty of drug use but the tunes were what mattered and I still think their tunes/playing were pretty accomplished and relevant. Granted they did stray from their original focus of traditional/progressive Bluegrass but why wouldn't they? YMSB: Have you heard their latest album? Go to archives and download/stream some stuff of theirs in the last year, too. Not sure where you're getting the "much more 'poppy'" take. They're definitely still in the Bluegrass vein, imo. I've seen RE a few times and while they're a decent band
  11. This reminds me that I once touched Pele's knee after a NY Cosmos game I attended with my soccer team as a kid. He was swarmed by fans getting onto the team bus and I was able to touch his knee with my hand. Incredible, I know.
  12. YMSB has a pretty rabid following these days, too. They're headlining Red Rocks the last few years and occupy the same home turf as SCI....
  13. I started catching them in '95 when I first moved to Boulder. They used to play at a very small brew pub, the Mountain Sun Brewery, for free on Sunday nights. It was obvious back then they were something special. They were much more in the traditional Bluegrass vein back then but with their unique twist. I caught them quite a bunch when it was still affordable and easy to catch them at local venues, even Telluride Bluegrass Fest, but hadn't caught them for about three years. Their side bands (Zilla, Hollingsworth's band, Billy Nershi and his wife, etc.) have been doing small bars/clubs for a
  14. I remember being really pumped to watch this show when the previews started a few months ago. I watched my first one last night and it was pretty lame. If it were an ice cream it'd be vanilla: not bad but when compared to what's out there very bland. Watching guys run out of gas and having tires change doesn't cut it for me.
  15. RA does a decent job on it, but yeah.... The last GD show I attended (Giant's Stadium summer '95 first night) Garcia had no idea what he was doing the first few minutes of the tune. It was a seriously heavy/sad/depressing moment.
  16. ...Masterpiece, He's Gone>Other One>(excerpts/reading)>Other One>Jam>Wharf Rat>Jam>Birdsong>Jam>Cassidy enc: Samson
  17. Keep them away from heat and out of sunlight and store them vertically/upright.
  18. It looks as if they've gone back to a more sane sale price. Here's hoping the original sale price will be honored, as I put several orders in.
  19. You got the game on Fox out there, huhn? The national black-outs are the only part of Saturday I don't care for.
  20. It's a Celebration! (my favorite incarnation of P&F- w/Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, Rob Barracco, and John Molo): http://ia310135.us.archive.org/1/items/200...disc310_vbr.mp3 And remember to Keep on Growin': http://ia310115.us.archive.org/2/items/gd8...14d1t06_vbr.mp3
