Holy cripes that's an insane line-up (Prine, Jorma, Doc Watson, Del McCoury, Grisman, Emmylou, Louvin, Earl Scruggs, Steve Earle, Skaggs/Hornsby, Pete Wernick, Bela, etc., etc.) and Tweedy, to boot.

We used to do funnels of MD every now and then. I don't recommend it to anyone. Especially if it's the Hawaiian blue flavored one.

A-man, I'd be willing to bet you were in the minority. I realize it's their music and they can do what they want with it, but it seems that Lemeiux is trying to save face on a very overt effort by Rhino/whomever to bitchslap the fan yet again. Just another chink added to the fence that's slowing been built between the fan and the tunes since 1995.

Has any one else checked out Lemieux's statement about yanking of the mp3 format? I don't know....pretty weak.

Peace, Love and Anarchy is good, too. Todd's my boy. If you get a chance, score his Moondawg discs. It's a 5 cd set put together by a fan of all live stuff. Excellent compilation and worth hours of great Todd stories and tunes. You need to get on the listserve list and folks will offer to send them out as long as you agree to re-send to another group once you have them.

Sounds good. Gabor's is a good call, too. Funky and laid back. Goosetown Tavern and Mezcal (right next to each other) are decent joints, too.

The Wynkoop Brewery and Rock Bottom Brewery (both brew pubs) are both down town (short busride/longer walk to Fillmore) and there's an Irish pub up the street from the Fillmore http://www.irishsnug.com/ There's also The Red Room which has good beer on tap and good food that's a few blocks from the Fillmore, too. There are a lot of cheap dive bars in the neighborhood, too. Sancho's and Dulcinea's are right next door. These are my hangs. http://www.quixotes.com/

There are tons of bars in walking distance to the Fillmore. Irish pubs, dive bars, hippy joints, etc. What kind of bars do you consider good?

I don't recall seeing tapers at Fillmore shows and I've been to a lot of Fillmore shows. They frisk you at one point and check tix at another on the way in. They also have a good amount of security. The entire place is GA (save for two VIP balconies). I'd call and see if they bend policy for certain bands.... ed. Come to think of it, I have seen tapers at Phil Lesh shows there and a few other shows. It's a band policy thing. You shouldn't have a problem.

I can agree that Morrison had talent. Stage presence, for sure, and a decent voice. He just sucked as a lyricist and the whole Morrison-as-poet thing is off, imo. I'm from the camp that thinks The Doors are a very overrated band, though.
