  1. Yep. Hats off to CLE but man did BOS stink it up the last 2 weeks of the season into this series.....3 of my brothers went to the game and the fun texts stopped around the 6th inning....
  2. Is either candidate actually convincing voters that are "on the fence" to side with them? Are there that many voters that are actually "on the fence"? It seems like they just solidify their base and tick off their opponent's base more so with each debate, ad on t.v., blurbs in the press. It's pretty amazing to me that a candidate that has zero office-holding political experience can be where he is today (a step away from the White House) but hey, that's the country we live in. I wonder if his feelings were hurt last night when Trump said (sic): "I haven't talked to him and I disagree with
  3. Pretty similar. Saw shows from '87-'96 or '97, then none until they started playing Dick's (2011?).
  4. You goes don't like Farmhouse? That thing is all the way through, imo (a bunch some concert staples lasted from it) . And, although I only listened to it a few times when it came out, I like Fuego, too.
  5. ^ Pitchfork, for a change, pretty much nailed it with the new album. I'm not sure I would have gone back as far as Billy Breathes to cite consistency, though, as Farmhouse is very consistent and solid and all of the albums since Billy Breathes, imo, contain enough solid material to not be throw-away albums.
  6. If I recall, Gore/Lieberman won the popular vote by a landslide and the electoral college vote was very close. Also, something about voting poll count impropriety in Florida...
  7. I was texting my buddy I went with (who now lives in CO, too) about the show and he reminded me that Dr. John opened. Now I recall, due to circumstances of the evening, that when he came out on stage with a tall walking stick and laid it on top of his piano that I was pretty sure it was a huge snake that he placed on top of the piano....
  8. Yeah that's the one. I guess it WAS about 80 min. of music.... Grand Central. Drunk maniac. Night time. No cops around. Young guys looking nervous....
  9. It was. All for 8 tunes, too.....that was the entirety of the "early" show: 8 songs. Yow. Those "early" and "late" shows were ridiculous.
  10. Took a train from New Haven to NYC for a JGB Beacon Theater (early) show in December of '83 with a buddy. Like 16 yrs old or so. Freezing cold out. We had no idea how to get to the show and we were tight on time after rolling into Grand Central so basically started running in an approximate direction asking directions as we ran. Quite a few blocks, as I recall. Got to the Beacon on time and there was a mini bar in the lobby so we gave that a shot. When it was time to order our drinks my buddy ordered a rum and Coke and when it was my young-assed turn I panicked and ordered a pina colada. Every
  11. Dude is practicing outdated management. By the same token, why keep Ubalado in during a "reliever's" role? Bad move/non-move, Buck.
  12. Ridiculous bullpen management by Showalter last night. Unfortunate for Os players and fans,
  13. Peace Like a River, Leif Enger and The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. Both for the language/style they were written in. Two of the few books with such excellently-worded text and vivid imagery that I frequently paused my reading just to appreciate both characteristics more so.
  14. Go back and look at p. 1 of the regular season thread for your predictions...Good stuff.
  15. Wild Card: BAL > TOR SF > NYM ALDS: TEX > SF BOS > CLE NLDS: WAS > LA CHI > NYM ALCS: BOS > TEX NLCS: CHI > WAS WS: BOS > CHI
  16. Vegas odds: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-playoffs-2016-vegas-odds-world-series-projections-probabilities/ but I've seen a few BOS over CHI ones, too.
  17. BOS v Cubs has been my hunch for awhile. I'd feel a little bad having BOS beat CHI after BOS has had a little more success than CHI of late. I'd still cherish another WS though, especially after last season's suck.
  18. Read it. It was pretty good. ed. Thought you would've said the Bible, actually.
  19. Man, I had no idea they were doing these. Would love to catch that Avett Bros. w/ Warren show on the 15th.
  20. I've read a few Fante books as well, including the Bandini saga. I'd recommend another great short story writer, Raymond Carver. Also, Hubert Selby (Last Exit to Brooklyn, Requiem for a Dream, etc.), or one of my all-time favorites: Flannery O'Connor.
  21. Agree on this. Flat, boring, unnecessary. Blaze On, which can really smoke live, sounds like a Sesame Street tune on the album. ed. Though I did appreciate the "play it LEO!!" before Page's solo from the studio....
  22. Gonna give it a go tonight. I met a liar, called the Messiah....
  23. I think I've only heard that one once. the second one with Kottke is decent. I particularly like the covers of "Ya Mar" and "Sweet Emotion."
