The show was solid. I'm not sure how Warren and various city symphonies practice for these shows but the CO symphony and Warren (plus drums, bass, etc.) were tight as could be. Jeff Sipe (Leftover Salmon, ARU, et al.) was on drums at the fromt of the satge and was a HUGE onus/contributor to the vibe. Warren on "Tiger' was cool but, and this isn't really a gripe, just a noticing, he didn't have/use much of the "tones" Garcia used to get out of it. It didn't really jump out as "Tiger!!" to me. Different guitarist, different styles/preferences, of course. Some of the tunes seemed a little rus

The Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration w/Warren Haynes (and Melvin Seals 3rd set) at Red Rocks. Melvin, Ray White (Frank Zappa guitarist for a good turn), and some local talent for free in City Park last night.

Didn't Eddie only share the vocals on "Hunger Strike" (and maybe some backing vocals on a couple others)? Doubt he'd show up just for one tune....(even if it IS the best tune on the album).

Apparently, Rob Wasserman has passed on. Dang.

Excellent, glad you appreciate him. A buddy from VA, who used to own a bookstore in Roanoke, turned me on to him after he met him as a customer, and found out he was a "local" writer. They became friends and I believe Martin even included him as a very minor character in one of his books. I've yet to read his most recent one, The Jezebel Remedy but look forward to it.

Yeah, that was pretty cool.

With a BASF, you most certainly will eventually need the pen.

Nice. They've been selling out everywhere. Wanted to see him/them at Red Rocks but sold out quickly....

Listened to it a couple weeks ago. Lots of very good tracks.... Here's a really good track: http://richrobinson.net/news/426666/premier-of-the-first-single-from-flux And another: http://www.hennemusic.com/2016/06/black-crowes-rich-robinson-streams.html

Ah, didn't make that show but what a wonderful show! That 1st set often gets overlooked, for obvious reasons, but is very solid. I love the Jack Straw-> Bertha opener and the Masterpiece and Birdsong are top-notch.

Hmmm. Jane's Addiction's "Ripple" (possibly the best GD cover ever, imo) is nothing like a straightforward take on an original. A Reggae take on "Estimated" (not necessarily a huge leap, but still), the Dr. John New Orleans-style "Deal," etc.
