  1. Hey man, I like watching the creeps get grilled on that show. It almost reminds me of how 60 Minutes used to be with the element of surprise sprung on the bad guys. It leaves 'em speechless. And arrested.
  2. Heh, I just re-burned this compilation last night and have been re-listening to it since (when, in the car). A great slew of songs (although, I still think JGarcia's take on "Accidentally Like A Martyr" blows Warren's away). I've downloaded a bunch of great shows of his from the archives site. Always a treat live. If you haven't ventured in over there, do so. So great late 70s stuff, of note. WZ is an often overlooked name when mentions of great songwriters comes up. The man truly new how to carve a tune with his words. I dig that cat.
  3. eh. They're decent tunes. I'm not blown away. I too like the vibe of the live "Walken" better. It has a force to it I'm not picking up here. Lyrically, "You Are My Face" is nice, but the tune isn't smacking me upside the head. The tunes are out of context of the album, of course, and might work better for me in the album form they're set for. Who knows. Again, not bad, but I'm not sure I agree with a lot of the hype so far. Just another opinion....
  4. Can we get a few threads about if/when/where this will leak, please?
  5. I always picture that chimp playing the towards-the-end part of "Dueling Banjos." Although he's obviously soloing. And there are no banjos.
  6. The rumor going around is that he would have a delicious hooker for breakfast, another for lunch, and a sensible romp with his wife for dinner to keep himself trim.
  7. Man, I busted this out for the first time in awhile yesterday, too. What a great album. I had forgotten it was co-produced by Mark Knopfler (who adds guitar, too....as does Mick Taylor. Oh yeah, and Sly and Robbie on drums and bass, respectively). I remember when it came out in early-mid 80s and loved it then. It holds up very well.
  8. I never equate it with the guy being a prick, just a space case. He's a pretty goofy dude. I'll give him some breathing room as long as he keeps being part of the best 3-4 hitting combo in the game.
  9. Ah, like stink on a Yankees fan, a sure harbinger of spring in New England is the annual Manny and his mood discussions.
  10. And hey, Nanci Griffith is awesome, it's just that her last few albums have sucked for me.
  11. ed. I was thinking of Nanci Griffith, with Hearts in Mind and Ruby Torch. My bad.
  12. I have not gotten into her last few albums. I feel like I'm listening to music one step away from elevator music. I like her voice a bunch and she's a talented musician, but cripes it's like listening to Celine Dion or something these days.
  13. Pretty big on the other side of the Pacific, though. The Japanese loved KISS. Then again, they pretty much love all music. They certainly weren't taken "seriously" in a Stones/Beatles way. They were a Hard Rock/Pop band that appealed vastly to teenage boys. The theatrics were a big part of the appeal. But, the tunes were decent enough, and a few tunes even appeal(-ed) to a wider audience: Rock & Roll All Night, Beth, Detroit Rock City, etc. got plenty of air time on Pop/Rock radio in the mid-late 70s. But remember, this was an era in which Muscrat Love, Afternoon Delight, and a so
  14. For the folks who are concerned about the Extra Innings/DirecTv deal, there may be some hope yet: http://money.cnn.com/2007/02/26/commentary...tsbiz/index.htm This would be great if it doesn't go through for myself and others who do not have/want satellite/DirecTv....
  15. I take my Tweedy with horseradish sauce on the side.
  16. Shannon McNally has a few decent tunes.
  17. A nice article on Matsuzaka's first live pitching debut in today's Globe: http://www.boston.com/sports/articles/2007...ers_its_dice_k/ As well as a bit on the belief that a Helton->Red Sox opportunity may still exist: Todd Helton would still love to play for the Red Sox. According to a source familiar with the Rockies situation, the team would love to see the Red Sox rekindle talks for a deal that makes sense for both sides. Would Ram
  18. The difference in taste between an organic Pink Lady (or your preference) apple and a "traditional" apple is vast. Yet so is the price. Therein lies the dilemma for most of us. If I could afford to eat the organic stuff on a regular basis, I would. We always buy our fruits with a thin skin, and with skins you eat, organically (grapes, apples, peaches, strawberries, etc.). The oranges, bananas, etc. we buy traditionally as they have a thick skin and we don't eat that part. Blue Sky soda is damn near perfect. Less carbonation, less sugar, coloring, etc. and yet a fantastic taste. Almost li
