The Dew and the Sugar Magnolia, as well as the Bertha, are all a little speedy, as well, but well plaid. The Deal smokes, too.

It's true. I wonder if her views on seat belt laws will change now that she has been directly impacted by reckless seat belt use.

I like them, too....much better then ones around the album version days. I just prefer the slower '83-'84 versions. The '82 "say your peace and kiss off" lyrics, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jilEuJJST9k

I think the early "Touch"'s being rushed was kind of an anomaly specific to that fall in '82 when it emerged. It slowed down quite a bit and quite quickly. Listen to, say, Lake Placid the following fall and the song has a really nice, mellow, almost "swing" rhythm to it.....

Bob Star/Little Star was done a few times only in '83, iirc.I know one was done at Merriweather in '83,,,,

Yep. One of my first tapes and same deal (except replace '75 with about '81) with the St.Stephen to the end.

Troy Polamalu's apparently pretty bored with retirement. The "ordeal" has finally ended.

At least the Cubs and the Mets have fans, though...
-
At least the new Ghostbusters only lasted a couple hours and had a happy ending.

Very cool. Just re-listened to that first "Foolish Heart" from Alpine '88. I remember at the time thinking it was a slowed down "Tangled Up in Blue" until the lyrics came in.....

Great show. I caught the next night in New Haven. Kreutzman was on drums for this tour and Bobby & the Midnites opened. Weir came out for the double encore, too. Smoking shows on that summer '82 JGB tour.....

Sugaree opener from Lake Placid is absurdly good....

Yes, Neil. Well said.

Oh man, I love the the back end of LLR! Last summer I played a different one from 80s about every night. Garcia's guitar work is fantastic on a lot of them and I dig the rising action of the tune and the Weir free-form vocal wiggle room. I also liked the echo effect Healy touched a bunch of them with....

Weirdos....

There were only a handful of shows in the spring of '79 with Brent the new addition. The only thing that stands out to my memory is a rippin' "Passenger" from Lafayette College, PA. The new addition really shines in the fall, though, where the band obviously hits a hot spot.

Wow.

You can buy a lot of Pabst with $200....

I think the older I get, the less I'm affected by celebrity/ non-celebrity deaths. Not to sound callous, but it's just a routine that people move on and the "impact" is less to me than when I was younger and immortal.....

Robert Johnson supposedly swapped his soul to the devil to be a Blues guitar genius, so I guess anything is possible. I'm confused about how Bernie Sanders can win the popular vote in, say, Colorado a few days ago but the "super delegates", no pun intended, trump that and say Hillary wins. Wtf is the point in the common man/woman even showing up to vote? It's a broken and corrupt system, through and through, that dictates that the general public doesn't matter. At least, that's how I feel. I'm going back to writing in Gary Coleman as my choice.

I've never heard him do that in "Blow Away". He did sing, once, "this song's my last fucking song for you, bitch!" in "Far From Me" at The World Music Theater at his second-to-last show.....

Yeah, I have the last live release they put out with her. Good stuff.
-
Yeah, and after she and Brent split up, she was kinda kicked to the curb by the GD, even ignoring financial pleas to help her get her shit out of storage but they ignored her and all those master reels were auctioned off.... http://www.relix.com/articles/detail/whats_become_of_the_bettys

Good question, as I generally think of Jerry/Brent harmonizing/backing vocals. Definitely Cassidy, then I'm thinking of Brent being in Bobby and the Midnites for a year or two and the tunes on that first Bob and Midnites album (which is a good listen every few years) and tunes like Too Many Losers, Haze, Book of Rules,.... Stranger, Throwing Stones, Sugar Mags, Women are Smarter, Good Lovin' all come to mind as really solid vocal input from Brent....
