Not exactly sure, but I've read that even Healy's masters were cut in the 2nd set due to the length of it. I know it was rainy/wind/thunder/lightening but that hasn't precluded sbs from emerging before. I do know that I've never heard a sbd or heard of anyone hearing a sbd of this show, though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72RztSIOU6Y

Not surprising if you neither saw live nor listened to any GD from '81-'88 (almost his entire career with band, save 3-4 yrs). He was an instilled part of the band when I started seeing shows in '81, so I guess that's a big factor in our differences regarding Brent and his playing/vocals/contributions to the band's legacy, etc.

I'd still say that 5.8.77 Dew (crescendo and all) is rivaled by the '83 SPAC Dew (crescendo and all).....

This is coming to Red Rocks again this summer and based on the previous reviews it's well worth the ticket price....

I like Tons of Steel (wife says it's "bad") and We Can Run. Don't care for Just a Little Light, though. The carnival-esque keys are a turn off, and used to really like " Take You Home," but it's hard to listen to, now. Love Easy to Love You, Far From Me, Maybe You Know, Blow Away, Pocky Way, Louie, Louie. As much as I appreciate a lot of his lead vocal tunes, he really shined on backing vocals and co-vocals (Gimme Some Lovin', Mr. Fantasy, Keep On Growing, Let the Good Times Roll, etc.)

The caucus was pretty wild in my district of CO last night: absolutely packed scene, a good bit of confusion, crying babies over proxies yelling out backings, confusion on where to confer for specific precincts, people "undecided" when straw and real votes were taken (and then people on both sides were allowed to try and sway them). Almost a surreal process.

The music was pretty fucking good, too....

Are you referring to the entirety of the 80s? I hope not, as I see the 80s broken into 2 halves, really, with pre- and post-coma. There really is a pretty noticeable distinction between the two, even down to how Garcia moved on stage. I've always been able to find diamonds in all the eras but yeah. 80-83 was solid, imo, as well. The acoustic stuff early in '80, some really great set lists in 81-82, and '83 is one of my favorite years, particularly the fall tour. The band sounds tight and Garcia's voice has that high-whiny pitch that I dug. 84-86 were probably the weakest years, imo, with s

Today I stumbled upon this little interview with Dean Ween and had a laugh. I've always thought it was the worst song ever, too: http://www.avclub.com/article/mickey-dean-ween-melchiondo-on-why-he-hates-4-non--98674

You tossed in "the highly educated" as a joke, right? In other news: http://time.com/4236640/donald-trump-racist-supporters/

It's painful to watch the lowest common denominator being massively backed by the same.

Only 9 more months, Louie. Think of it as a really painful pregnancy with all the benefits of morning sickness, cramps, fitful and sleepless nights, etc.

Really cool interview/article on Kaufman, particularly his first "gig" in '74 at The Improv in NYC: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/dec/28/bob-zmuda-tells-truth-about-andy-kaufmans-death/?page=all

Yep. Love the Willie version and the Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds version, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpVxLQv-IT8 And, Emmylou has the perfect voice for the song....

"The Maker" = my favorite JGB cover....

He could go with George Zimmerman and likely still win.....

Seems like a load of crap for people who have their minds made already.... Thanks for the response(s), even though I deleted my post (I just discovered "Google" recently)....

Wow, very cool setlist. One of my favorite "recent" covers by WSP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVbTA0xqFLA

Speaking of '84 (not a strong year, imo): http://www.jambase.com/article/phil-lesh-friends-pay-tribute-to-1984-grateful-dead-at-terrapin-crossroads

Garcia cranks the harmonizing lyrics on it....

FYI: I believe that means, "The House".

Was not a huge fan of the collaboration. Dylan mauled some of his own tunes (imo), particularly back in '86. Subsequent years had him seemingly barking lyrics out (always thought he looked like a big, barking chipmunk on the Jumbotrons), and I never thought the band and he melded too well. I like Dylan's take on his tunes but I also love how the GD covered him, too. Often, the 2 sides doing the same tune together at the same time turned into an almost futile and struggling effort (I'm thinking of "Baby Blue" '86 RFK, "Desolation Row" anywhere, etc. where tempos and expression of lyrics were o

Knocked out the first chapter last night, looks like it'll be an engaging read. One thing that popped out was how broke they (Garcia/MG were referenced) were in 1970, still (on WIC, eating PB&J and buying big bags of rice, etc.) and then the images of the Festival Express from same time period....

I think it's only been out a few weeks and no "Prime" benefits.....
