  1. As a conservative, I feel that the appointments of Roberts and Alito were the among the only truly conservative acts of Bush's administration. I do think Stevens will make it 10 more weeks.
  2. Ha! I told my wife he'd be announcing his retirement at about 12:01 PM, January 20, 2009.
  3. Boy is there a lot of hyperbole on this board today. I am glad that we elected our first African-American president last night. I have hope that he can make some positive change, especially in restoring our reputation abroad. I suggest all who believe he be the panacea to all of our problems please read Article II of you Constitution. His power is limited. We elected a president. Not a pharaoh, a king, or deity, but a president. Humanity has a habit of building up heroes only to knock them down. This county faces huge problems. Let's enjoy the moment, but have a little perspective.
  4. Mostly because the problems with elections in 80s when they projected winners while polls in CA were still open. Obama will be the projected winner by about 10:05 CST.
  5. One of my 7th grade students was somewhat incredulous that the homeless could vote.
  6. Saw a commercial for this last night.

  9. Agreed. Cindy as the QVC model was great. She may have another career on her hands. Although her expression seemed so blank I wondered if she had fallen off the pain pill wagon.
  10. Our kids actually slept in this morning. Yesterday, my son woke up at 6 am, which would've translated to 5 this morning. He made it until almost 7. The sun was actually up, yea!!
  11. Bloom County was good back in the 80s. It didn't age as well as Doonesbury. The new Opus strip was unreadable. Still, lots of love for Breathed. His early work is a great career unto itself.
  12. Someone, WilcoWorshipper, I think, posted a youtube link that is now dead. I'm guessing it was for this video on funnyordie.com http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/cc65ed650d It is cute.
  13. That, and if Roe were repealed, abortion laws would be the states' jurisdiction, not the feds. I think much of the rabid feelings on both sides of the abortion issue are due, to a large extent, to the feeling that this decision was taken out of the people's hands by a decision that stretched the meaning of the Bill of Rights beyond the recognition of many people. I'm pretty strong supporter of the right to choose, but not of the Roe v. Wade decision.
