  1. I'm going to start this. It's marketed as a teen or "young adult" but many English teachers tell me it's one of the best books for kids or adults they've read.
  2. I really liked Betty LaVette singing Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come" until Jon Bon Jovi joined her. Ugh.
  3. That, and I still can't get the image of his knee injury during the BCS game out of my head.
  4. I like their album and liked their performance on SNL. I can handle the falsetto in small doses only.
  5. Wicked, but IMO legal. He was trying to lead with his shoulder and missed, thus head-to-head.
  6. The strings remind me of Cale in the VU. I always thought Handshake Drugs was a perfect VU song, well, there you go. Only sounds like Doug Yule, not Lou singing.
  7. My heart skipped a beat. I still remember the Christmas I got that toy. Loved it for a long time. I thought it was really flying!
  8. Crashing in such a populated area with so many eyewitness reports leads me to believe that cellphone videos & pix will emerge soon if they haven't already. That pilot probably just won a seat at Obama's 1st State of the Union Address, if he's giving one.
  9. I did it a couple of years ago. Thought I did quite well though I'll never forgive myself for choking on Laurence Fishburne's name!! I'm convinced if I'd come up with it, I would've gotten the call, probably not though.
  10. No one could turn a phrase like Westerberg, I expect to see more of his up here. For now, I'll post one of my favorite Costello lines: "Was it a millionaire who said, 'Imagine no possessions?' A poor little schoolboy who said, 'We don't need no lessons?'"
  11. Anyone try any of the Goose Island sodas? I love me some orange cream soda.
  12. Damn, you stole my post. I thought the same thing when I heard he passed.
  13. Hootenanny - Replacements - My brother bought it for me because we learned to ski on Buck Hill. I wonder if I would've discovered elsewhere. Workbook - Bob Mould - Hit me in the gut emotionally. Never listened to Husker Du, bought it strictly because of the Rolling Stone review (which I re-read periodically) Mingus Ah Um - Charles Mingus - The first jazz record I really, really dug.
  14. I even liked the skit of the 2 1st names talk show. Neal Patrick Harris was one of the best hosts in a long time.
  15. Now watching crack cocaine in televised form - AKA 24. I would love to hear Janeane Garofalo's explanation for joining the cast of this show. Then again, Keifer's quite a leftist too. It's fun, I just wish it could be taken as just entertainment without some in the right wing treating it like a documentary and a justification for torture. If it works for Jack Bauer, it must work at Abu Ghraib too...
  16. Vibes. As a Vikings fan, I've been there... many, many times.
  17. Tarvaris Jackson has a higher QB rating than Joe Flacco, the Vikings have a better RB, damn good defense. Sigh...
  18. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. OK. Amy Adams will never win an award for subtlety.
  19. Drum fill @ beginning of Young Americans - David Bowie
  20. I live in DM and am curious about this show. I like his music, but am not familiar enough with it to shell out the $$. Hoyt Sherman is a beautiful venue. Saw Lyle Lovett's acoustic trio there many years ago.
