  1. When was the recorded? I'm guessing right after Summerteeth?
  2. My 2 favorite current bands are...
  3. That's how I feel about the few episodes I've seen of the Extras.
  4. I can appreciate not liking Seinfeld. I love it. I think it's one of the best TV comedies ever, but some people just don't like the somewhat snotty, arrogant humor of it. If you don't like Seinfeld, I would expect you to hate Curb Your Enthusiasm. What I don't get are people who love Seinfeld who don't like Curb. It's basically the same humor with different characters. George=Larry David.
  5. The Eno/Bowie trilogy was great. Low, Heroes, Lodger. They get less great as you move through them, but Low is a masterpiece. Some have already mentioned Eno/Byrne's My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. Still sound fresh a couple of decades later. Also, he produced Fear or Music by Talking Heads.
  6. Well Done. It's hard to imagine a more blasphemous statement than that!
  7. Strange man dancing to Husker Du's something I learned today.
  8. I don't think it is blasphemy, but I do believe it's true. I was watching The Last Waltz soon after seeing night 2 of the residency. It occurred to me that Sirratt's stage presence is a lot like Danko's.
  9. Thanks for the info. Sounds like incredible fun!
  10. I am relatively new here and have been trying to figure out the backstory behind this show. Who are Dave and Martin? Is this a regular show? What is hotel SNS? I loved the version of Sir Duke, are we ever going to be able to hear the rest of this show?
  11. Have you heard the CD that came out yesterday. Allmusic gave it a very positive write-up. Jonathan's great!
  12. I hope, for their sake it would be financially successful. They never got their due. I do not think it would be musically noteworthy. From what I saw of the Pixies reunion, it wasn't musically noteworthy either.
  13. The Grifters?? I like High Fidelity a lot, too. And let's not forget 16 Candles.
  14. I totally encourage them to cash the big checks (filthy lucre), but I doubt it would be anything noteworthy. Their time has come and gone even more than the Pixies.
  15. We are fans of Jack's. Haven't watched it for awhile. We'll have to throw it back on the Tivo season pass. I'm a little cautious about playing music with drug references, but I've played them to Wilco songs on my guitar and changed the lyrics. "Playing Kiss covers beautiful at home". Misunderstood, "the candy bars taste so good". "Handshake Hugs" instead of drugs, but then I realized buying handshake hugs downtown probably just as troublesome.
  16. Forgot to bring up a really good one who happens to be the son of a good friend of my mom's. http://www.justinrobertsmusic.com/
  17. Amen. Maybe not synthesizers, except for Herbie Hancock's "Headhunters". Some brilliant electric guitar has been part of the jazz tradition as old as bop.
  18. Impossible Germany heard at a local grocery store overhead play about 10:30 PM last night. I just love the guitar parts on that song! A somewhat invigorating way to end a long day.
  19. Don't know where I'd put it, but I got to see Wilco cover "Reaper" at Val Air Ballroom back in 2006. Cowbell courtesy of a couple of roadies if memory serves correct.
  20. Is it a bootleg?? As far as I know (and I thought I knew a lot about this) there's no official release except an old small compilation on VHS and through ITunes.
  21. I am a huge Mould fan, just check out my avatar. That said, I can't understand why his new disc, District Line, is getting such positive press. Adams says it's his favorite Bob solo piece ever?!?!?! Workbook is a masterpiece. District Line is tolerable. I enjoyed the video. If you don't own Workbook, please, buy it right now!!
  22. Thanks for all the recommendations. Keep 'em coming! Some I'm familiar with, others not. As far as soundtracks, we all kind of like Paul Westerberg's soundtrack for "Over the Hedge". I think it's his best solo material!
  23. I'm guessing that there are quite a few parents of youngsters on this forum. I'm always looking for music for my kids that doesn't drive me nuts. My nearly 3 year old twins will listen to small doses of Wilco, Old 97's, Beatles, Dead, and Josh Rouse. But they're crazy for the Wiggles. Other kids' music they (and I) like include Dan Zanes, Ralph's World, Justin Roberts, Pete Seeger and Laurie Berkener. If anyone else can suggest music in that vain, I would be most appreciative!
  24. I am a novice on this subject, but I was there. I was standing about 10 "rows" back about in front of John. I could barely hear the horns on Andrew's violin. Those come through very strong in the matrix. I am very pleased with it!
