  1. It's actually much worse in other parts of Iowa, but read here to find out what I mean.
  2. I watched 2 movies this weekend. Across the Universe is one of the worst movies I've see in a while. Horrible singing and choreography. Cloverfield was fun. Glad I didn't see it in the theater. That camera work on the big screen would've made me puke for sure.
  3. Can you imagine what our trade deficit is going to look like this year w/ the price of oil??
  4. Who here has contributed to the Wilco article? Any other Wikipedia contributors here? Serious contributions, not vandalism.
  5. How old is he in the picture? Looks about 16 or 17. It makes me remember how young those are who we ask to sacrifice so much.
  6. Yes, to a point. Historically, tax cuts have led to revenue increases because tax cuts stimulate the economy. Therefore, even though lower percentages are being taxed, net revenues grow. The reason budget deficits ballooned in the 80's isn't the Reagan tax cuts, it's that spending grew at even faster rates than revenue increases. I think, however, the Bush tax cuts are reaching the point of diminishing returns. Theoretically, I don't think you could have a tax rate of .0000001% and expect more revenue than if the tax rates were around 25%. Also, I think in sends the wrong message i
  7. 2 posts on the Old 97's forum gave positive reviews. I wasn't there, maybe I'm glad I wasn't. I was really hoping to catch them this tour. Saw Rhett Miller about 1 1/2 years ago on a solo acoustic tour. That was a fantastic show, but I also thought this is a guy who needs a band behind him to fully appreciate.
  8. Thanks for the reminder. Makes me wish I had Band of Brothers on DVD.
  9. I smell milk. If I'm not sure how old leftovers are, I look & smell, then pray.
  10. Death @ a Funeral had many laugh out loud moments.
  11. Wasn't the album version of Sympathy so piano driven because Keith was so f'd he could hardly play?
  12. http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/20947527/page/1 I browsed the list really quick. Glad Husker Du made it. Sorry I didn't see Richard Thompson or Velvet Underground.
  13. I'm pretty conservative, not sure I'd vote for Obama. I might, just because I respect the hell out of what he has been able to accomplish. I had goose bumps watching his speech on TV. I'm also getting tired of all this stuff about Pflager, Wright, Ayers, and all the lies about Obama and Islam. If that's the way McCain's allies choose to run the campaign, I'll be sorely disappointed. I have a lot of respect for both of these candidates and I think they have the potential to run the best, cleanest campaign in at least 50 years. I worry it's not going to happen though.
  14. Dang, I was sitting here thinking, Levon Helm?? In The Right Stuff?? I've seen that movie like 100 times! Who was he?? So I go to IMDB and I see he's Ridley! Yeager was always asking him to loan him a stick of Beeman's gum. I had to track Beeman's down just to see what it was all about years ago.
  15. Tom Dowd & the Language of Music is great! Festival Express totally forgot we jam econo!
  16. Great game on ESPN last night. Twins beat the Yankees! Joe Mauer went deep for the 1st time all year. Delmon(d)?? Young finally showed why we traded for him. 3 RBI doubles!
  17. That reminds me, I recently got the Johnny Cash show on DVD. Great performances by CCR, Clapton, Louis Armstrong, Pete Seeger, and SO many more.
  18. Freakin' Awesome. Took me a couple of seconds to figure out why this was in the election thread.
  19. Actually shook the man's hand about 12 years ago after a show in the Twin Cities. Loved his rectangle guitar. Does anyone else have a beat named after him?
