Jules' answer notwithstanding, here's some data: And, as someone who has expressed conservative views here, you will feel welcome by most, even if you're in the minority.

Amen!

The fact that he admits he's not following scientific protocol doesn't diminish the fact that long-term studies may reveal harm. Cellular technology has exploded over the past decade. There have been articles linking the widespread use of wireless phones to the diminishing number of bees. Maybe, hopefully, this man's fear will be proven wrong, but the only reason science hasn't spoken on the long-term effects of cell phone usage on children is because the technology is still new.

All the kids at the school I teach have their cell phones out soon after the bell rings. I hope this is unwarranted fear. Pittsburgh cancer center warns of cell phone risks

One of my favorite bits from David Letterman, back when he was funny. Rupert Jee annoys people

And because they come from conservative think tanks they are immediately invalidated? From my point of view, universities have basically become liberal think tanks.

I really liked it. Especially the scene in the park. When I really like a movie, I'll check out some bonus features. There were some important scenes that ended up on the cutting room floor. That, and a decapitation!

Can't wait.

Well... as normal as Iowa City can ever be.

That'd be great if the barn were in central Iowa, otherwise they'd be increasing MY overhead costs!

EW's List of the 100 "New Classics" (books since 1983)

I enjoyed Angels & Demons, but wouldn't call it a classic. I've read 3 of his books (Digital Fortress & DaVinci are the others) and he's VERY formulaic. Spoiler alert for his next novel... The bad guy is the older, gentle, mentor/father-like figure. -

I've read a few Douglas Coupland, never really moved by him. But he should be on this list just for cultural impact. -

Pro wrestling has schtik??!? (or did you mean Eddie's singing?)

The funniest thing I ever heard on This American Life. The Phone Message Act I, starts about 2 minutes in.

He talks like Eddie Vedder sings! But then again, so do most professional wrestlers.

I'd say if you substituted ADD for autism, he'd be closer to right, but still not quite. I think ADD is way overdiagnosed, but a real disorder. You can tell when kid respond well to medication and others just get spaced out. I've had several Auspurgers (sp?) students. Auspurgers Syndrome is on the most functional end of the autism spectrum. In most cases, the diagnosis seems accurate.

Two good pieces about Obama: One by conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer. His style usually rubs me the wrong way, even when I agree with him. I liked this column and agree that Obama has an overly healthy sense of self. I don't think, however, that it's an argument against his potential presidency. This other one from the Onion is a pretty good take on the media's love affair with BO.

There was a great interview w/ Rhett on Fresh Air yesterday.
