I teach 7th grade, just 2 years away from your age. I would drop dead in my classroom if any of my students could identify more than 3 of the artists on your list. This looks like it came from someone in their late 30s (like me). Impressive!

When I saw Wilco at Val Air Ballroom in 2006, they played Walken and On and On. It was pretty clear that the next album was going to sound different from the previous one. Didn't get that sense w/ these 2 tracks. Kind of follow the SBS mold of mellow songs. One Wing has a great intensity at the end. I love what Nels adds in that regard! Thanks for posting.

I've done Yahoo Pick 'em with work friends. It's where you make weekly picks on the winners of all the NFL games. You can play straight up or against the spread. We always play w/ "confidence points" where you have to prioritize the games from most confidence to least. That makes it more interesting than the spread, IMO. I stopped doing fantasy football because I never felt like keeping track of all the various positions. This has been a very fun alternative for me. If there's interest on the board, I could set up a VC pick 'em league.

I loved Wall Street, Nixon was okay. I really can't stand how JFK distorted history. I don't really care about what Stone thinks of W. Having said that, this preview makes the movie look fairly interesting. Some good casting and/or some good make-up. Esp. Rove & Rice. edit: A look at the cast on IMDB does look interesting. Rob Corddry as Ari Fleischer should be great as should Scott Glenn as Rumsfeld. Richard Dreyfuss as Cheney makes perfect sense. I've only seem them once, back in college. It took me a while to figure out what I was seeing. Green, red, and blue all fluttering at what seemed to be 20 ft. up. Unforgettable!

The director, Peter Hedges, also directed Pieces of April as well as wrote the screenplay for About a Boy and the novel, What's Eating Gilbert Grape. I went to the same H.S. as him, so I follow his work fairly closely. This was a good movie, but not as good as his other efforts. Could've done without Dane Cook.

I've only seen 1 or 2 arena shows in the past 15 years. I really got put off by them when I saw Neil Young & Crazy Horse back in '91 or '92 at the Target Center in the Twin Cities. I was so far away that the sound and the sight was out of sync. When I moved closer, it didn't help much. I don't know if Wilco would even sell out an arena in Chicago just because a lot of their fans wouldn't like the arena experience.
