I used to love seeing Lyle live, but he seems to be losing his mojo. Glad you enjoyed this show, though. It's been a long time since he's really wowed me with his songwriting. His shows are good, but don't vary much from one to another. I did have the pleasure of seeing a 3 piece acoustic show at a beautiful old theater in Des Moines (Hoyt Sherman Place) many years ago. They really nailed "Friend of the Devil" that night. The acoustics in that theater were unbelievable. My wife was at home recovering from having her wisdom teeth removed and I still keep lying to her, saying it wasn't tha

I've bothered, but not at any expense to myself. It's on reserve for me at my local public library. -
I heard this morning that he's going to play the Super Bowl.

Sounds beautiful, but so does sleep.

Didn't R.E.M. did a song about that?

I just wonder if there's any powerful male who can keep it in his pants or are they just better at keeping secrets. -

My biggest shock is no Steely Dan. They seem to come up a lot here. I know next to nothing about Neutral Milk Hotel. I'll have to check that out! -
Happy day!

I won't buy it as quickly as I bought Outside when Bowie reunited w/ Eno. That one pretty much blew. Byrne recently made music w/ a skyscraper. I don't know and don't care about the details of that, but it sounds like jumping the shark to me.

Damn, I take the kids to the pool for a couple of hours (beautiful day here in DM, IA) and I miss out on a lot of fun.

I agree w/ that statement. And I'm a believer that consumption of oil plays a role in serious environmental damage. However, I do believe that drilling can help bridge the gap between our current energy needs and breakthroughs in alternative energy sources. Horizontal drilling techniques have made GETTING the oil less harmful. I just realized the position I just took is pretty much the same as Paris Hilton's in her response to the McCain ad... Shame on me.

Thanks, I have a thread w/ my own name on it. Pifin is the name some junk mailer clerk gave me. Peter is the name my parents gave me. Pifin seemed like a good screen name.

The irony of a Bill Belichick sex tape is so perfect. It explains why Goodell erased all the tapes that NE sent to him. Obviously it got stuck in the bunch. He's scarred for life after watching it.

Sigh.... I remember when I 1st got DirecTV and that video was in heavy rotation on M2, before they changed it to MTV2 and back when good bands were on it.

I just read this in the Onion's AV Club after playing around w/ google. I thought it was pertinent to this thread.

Another Wilco one and it might seem like a song that's been covered to death, and it has: Sympathy for the Devil I heard it on the radio today and I got to thinking how the current lineup could absolutely KILL that song. Glenn going crazy on drums and/or bongos John killing the bass line and the "hoo hoo"s Pat doing the great rock star pose Mikael jamming that piano groove Nels playing a Keith-inspired by entire Nels-owned solo Jeff doing some serious screaming and great rhythm guitar Jeff, Nels & Pat could even exchange solos a la Hoodoo Voodoo -
I think the exact line is something like, "I just wanna sing a bunch of f*$#in' songs." I understand and appreciate that sentiment. I've read a lot of criticisms of the SBS songwriting. I don't get it. I can understand people thinking that the sound is a regression, though I'd disagree w/ that because of the quality of the players.
