  1. I smell milk. If I'm not sure how old leftovers are, I look & smell, then pray.
  2. Death @ a Funeral had many laugh out loud moments.
  3. Wasn't the album version of Sympathy so piano driven because Keith was so f'd he could hardly play?
  4. http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/20947527/page/1 I browsed the list really quick. Glad Husker Du made it. Sorry I didn't see Richard Thompson or Velvet Underground.
  5. I'm pretty conservative, not sure I'd vote for Obama. I might, just because I respect the hell out of what he has been able to accomplish. I had goose bumps watching his speech on TV. I'm also getting tired of all this stuff about Pflager, Wright, Ayers, and all the lies about Obama and Islam. If that's the way McCain's allies choose to run the campaign, I'll be sorely disappointed. I have a lot of respect for both of these candidates and I think they have the potential to run the best, cleanest campaign in at least 50 years. I worry it's not going to happen though.
  6. Dang, I was sitting here thinking, Levon Helm?? In The Right Stuff?? I've seen that movie like 100 times! Who was he?? So I go to IMDB and I see he's Ridley! Yeager was always asking him to loan him a stick of Beeman's gum. I had to track Beeman's down just to see what it was all about years ago.
  7. Tom Dowd & the Language of Music is great! Festival Express totally forgot we jam econo!
  8. Great game on ESPN last night. Twins beat the Yankees! Joe Mauer went deep for the 1st time all year. Delmon(d)?? Young finally showed why we traded for him. 3 RBI doubles!
  9. That reminds me, I recently got the Johnny Cash show on DVD. Great performances by CCR, Clapton, Louis Armstrong, Pete Seeger, and SO many more.
  10. Freakin' Awesome. Took me a couple of seconds to figure out why this was in the election thread.
  11. Actually shook the man's hand about 12 years ago after a show in the Twin Cities. Loved his rectangle guitar. Does anyone else have a beat named after him?
  12. I hope it's not true, either. But I decided long ago to separate a public figure's talents from their personal life. For many years, I held Kirby Puckett up as a role model as a great athlete and person based upon his loyalty to his team and his community. Little did I know the sordid details of his personal life. After that incident, I try my best to remember that we only see a tiny fraction of a public persona's real self. If all of this is true, it's sad, but it doesn't change my appreciation for Murray's body of work.
  13. Saw Sonny 9 years ago in Houston. He can still blow! I doubt I'll make it, but if you can, go!!
  14. If anyone is actively using Pandora, I would be interested in sharing stations. I have 3 stations. One devoted to rock that started w/ the Old 97s, one devoted to jazz that started w/ Sonny Rollins, and one devoted to classical that started w/ JS Bach. PM me w/ your e-mail if you want to swap stations. I'd be curious what other Wilco fans' stations sound like.
  15. V-Roys, just add ice. Man that's a great CD!!
  16. Listening to SBS right now. If I ever produce a game show, I'm using the opening of Shake it Off as the think music!
  17. I can see how YHF can be considered self-indulgent (but still an incredible artistic achievement). Not really Summerteeth. While there are a few noises on it, it's still mostly about the songs. Great summary of how I feel about SBS and the current Wilco lineup, though.
  18. Another good performance from the late Sidney Pollack. A good movie. Liked the ending.
  19. My Pandora station is currently playing the title track off this: mmmm....
  20. Baby monitor w/ low batteries or w/ interference from tv, radio, computer.
