  1. I saw Jason posted your pictures of that show.
  2. I 100% understand both your reticence and your decision to pull the trigger. I saw him live twice and was left disappointed both times. I love Whiskeytown and tons of his solo work. Even before the NYT piece, I'd decided he wasn't really the best person, that, the NYT piece, his response, and my disappointment in his live shows have him mostly on the backburner for me now. I do love the essay he wrote for the 25th Anniversary release of Bob Mould's Workbook.
  3. I finished Andor last night. Absolutely phenomenal tension, drama, narrative, political intrigue. It fits nicely in the Star Wars universe, but is so much more complex and adult than any of it. Can't wait for season 2!
  4. I had a friend there. Said he met Jon Langford from the Mekons.
  5. I first heard of low wondering into an in-store performance at Northern Lights Records in Minneapolis on my way to a Bob Mould show at First Avenue. I was intrigued but didn't pay much attention to them for another decade or so. Back in 2016 when my mom died and the world went to hell, I made a mourning playlist. Just make it stop was the 2nd song I chose for it. RIP. Awful news.
  6. I'd sworn him off live even before is #metoo controversy. I saw him twice and both shows were sleepers. He released some of my favorite stuff in the late 20th and early 21st century and I can't swear off Whiskeytown and his early solo LPs. Hard for me to dive into his new stuff though.
  7. Ramy season 3 on Hulu is fantastic. At least the first 2 episodes. The 2nd has some of the most compelling political drama and satire I've seen on television.
  8. Random Name Generator on Thursday Night Football just now
  9. Another potential interesting podcast appearance by Tweedy. https://twitter.com/singforscience/status/1577688850561908742?s=20&t=Gz7cU9WDlQgSRhYZe3VMzQ
  10. Yep. Never lost power. Minimal damage in their part of Tampa. Thanks!
  11. Was supposed to see Old 97's tonight, but was pretty sick yesterday (neg. COVID). If anyone knows anyone in the Des Moines area who'd like to see them, let me know. Ticket's only $20.
  12. https://www.udiscovermusic.com/news/norah-jones-podcast-playing-along/ "Here Norah and Jeff have a wide-ranging conversation and perform five of Norah’s favorite songs of his including “Muzzle of Bees,” which will be released as a digital single this Friday, September 30."
  13. My in-laws are in an evacuation zone, but last I heard are planning on staying put. Very worried.
  14. I would give my left arm (and I'm left-handed) to hear Spiders(Kidsmoke) live again. Always on my wishlist.
  15. Right now, I really believe the future of rock is female. So many of new(ish) favorite artists. Lucy Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers, The Beths are just a few examples.
  16. I've seen her live twice. Killer sets both times.
  17. I liked Isbell's quip on his Instagram post about playing with Nels. It’s like fishing with Bill Dance- you know he could embarrass you if he wanted to, but he’s a gentleman so everybody gets to eat good. Thanks @wilco and @beachroadweekend 📷: @themichaelluke
  18. Has it been shared here that Tweedy's working on another book? Listen at the 1:43:00 mark. http://thebestshow.net/
  19. Lucy Dacus, Kurt Vile, Phoebe Bridgers at Hinterland Festival south of Des Moines. Hopefully Lucy joins Phoebe for some Boygenius.
  20. GBV at the Square Roots festival tonight.
  21. Yep. Reminded me a lot of Palace Theater in the Twin Cities. Thalia just a bit smaller. A great venue.
  22. My ears were still ringing this morning. Doing it all over again tonight. This time at the Square Roots Festival that will also include Deep Sea Diver!
  23. Bob Mould. Tonight and tomorrow.
