  1. The Astros have been tearing it up this year. The Cars probably want to figure out what explains their turnaround.
  2. I get what you're saying, but would disagree especially with the quoted sentence above. Hops are the most important ingredient in a lot of beers. They are the flavor, they don't disguise the flavor. I think the reason we see beers getting hoppier and hoppier is a lot of us develop tolerance to it and want to push the next level. My father-in-law is nuts for spicy food the way some of us are for beer and he's done the same thing. A few years ago, I thought the hops craze may adversely affect the craft beer market, but today I think there is more diversity than ever. More and more sours, stout
  3. Like Mountain Bed, I could make a whole other list for jazz.

  5. So Trump's officially in I see? I think he is essentially running to further his brand name and get others to help pay. He will be entertaining. I am not sure we have ever had a thinner-skinned candidate in my lifetime. He went on a Twitter tirade directed toward Charles Krauthammer. Can't wait to see what happens next.
  6. And the cans will keep so much better.
  7. Consider is certainly an important word here. If you look at the order they're listed in preference, I think it makes a lot more sense. Trustworthiness is also a big, big factor here. Let's take Chris Christie, for example. I had admired his brash approach, but his character has been dinged by the bridgegate scandal and -- as silly as it sounds -- sucking up to Jerry Jones. I think it's pretty clear that Jerry Jones is a sleazy old man, but Christie wanted to befriend him to sit in his suite to watch Cowboys games.
  8. A list of announced or potential candidates I would consider voting for. Democrats Lincoln Chafee Elizabeth Warren Martin O'Malley Bernie Sanders Jim Webb Republicans Jeb Bush Chris Christie John Kasich George Pataki Rand Paul Marco Rubio Now listed in current order of preference: John Kasich Lincoln Chafee Elizabeth Warren Marco Rubio Rand Paul Chris Christie Martin O'Malley George Pataki Jeb BushBernie Sanders Jim Webb Would not, Could not vote for in no particular order Scott Walker Hillary Clinton Donald Trump Rick Santorum Mike Huckabee Rick Perry Ted Cruz Probably not Bobby Jin
  9. The Shape of Jazz to Come now sounds tame compared to what it inspired.
  10. Mostly something different from Thompson's recent output. Maybe some dissonance or odd drumbeats like on Tweedy or Mavis Staples.
  11. A solid LP. I was hoping for more evidence of Tweedy's production, but it's still very good.
  12. Now streaming on NPR http://www.npr.org/2015/06/07/412042921/first-listen-richard-thompson-still

  14. I forgot Tig is going to be there. She really is incredibly funny. Watch Knock Knock, It's Tig Notaro or listen to her on Jeff Garlin's podcast. They really have organized a great lineup this year.
  15. The Police Can't Stand Losing You Truth Hits Everybody One World (Not Three) Synchronicity II King of Pain
  16. Was the John Doe show in '08? I skipped that one coming so shortly after the Winter Residency.
  17. 2.8 miles to Val Air Ballroom, West Des Moines, IA 347 miles to Riviera Theatre, Chicago, IL
  18. I don't think a current audience would appreciate Dave and Teri's history, but it would be something. Letterman's heyday matched up well with my HS and colle years (84-92). He shaped my sense of humor almost single-handedly. I've said more than once in the past couple of weeks, "If you ever wondered how I became a sarcastic asshole, blame Dave."
  19. Zwan. Their LP is one of the 2 or 3 best LPs Billy Corgan has made (Gish and Siamese Dream being the others).
