  1. It's pretty well-documented that Farrar did not like Jeff's growing influence over the band, so Jeff getting a bit snarky is pretty understandable. Having said that, it's also pretty well-documented that Jeff didn't appreciate Jay Bennett's growing influence in Wilco and sacked him. My point? No one is blameless for what happened in UT and I think history makes it clear that the sum was no longer greater than the parts and it was probably a good thing for the both of them that UT ended.
  2. The moderating sucked, not because of liberal bias, though I think there were elements of it. The moderating sucked because they had repeatedly stupid questions. I hate Cruz, but thought it was a great opportunity to score valid points. I really want to like Kasich, and expected him to come out a bit more fiery than he did. A big disappointment. Lots of people seem to think Rubio came out ahead, but as people begin to look into his personal finances, any bump he gets will be short-lived. I think this debate did the most for Christie and the least for Carson, Trump, and Bush; especially Trump.
  3. I tried using Shazam and cutting it off before the proper song began. It came up Magazine Called Sunset. It sounds like some of the non Simon & Garfunkel cha cha stuff from The Graduate soundtrack, but it's not.
  4. Only maybe not? http://www.eonline.com/news/709200/bill-murray-and-jenny-lewis-are-not-dating
  5. It was for me. I was one of the few Iowans to caucus for McCain in 2008, but when he picked Palin as his running mate, I could not pull the trigger for an elderly cancer survivor.
  6. I would love to see Joe Walsh sometime. I don't want to pay to see the Eagles but he doesn't seem to come to Iowa solo.
  7. I hope they can get their shit together enough to remaster/remix the Husker catalog. No interest in seeing them tour though.
  8. This. Great video, or greatest video ever?
  9. Yes, yes it would. Jeff Garlin had him on his podcast. It was entertaining. http://www.earwolf.com/episode/jeff-tweedy/
  10. The simple fact is, if the U.S. took on handguns the way the U.K. and Australia did, lives would be saved. The statistics are unquestionable. There would be small social costs to do this. The U.K. has seen a rise in burglaries, probably due to emboldened criminals. Again, lives would be saved.
  11. Would like to hear your impression of the new material he's playing on this tour.

  14. Great show! Chic opened up and Nile Rodgers put on a fantastic show. The wife loves Duran Duran and we got to see a great show at the best venue I've been to.
  15. Duran Duran at Red Rocks. The wife's a huge fan and I get to go to Red Rocks.
  16. Damn. For about a year in my pre-adolescence they were my favorite band. Dude had some chops.
  17. This is an inspiring story of religious pluralism. His message needs to be heard now more than ever.
  18. I teach as well. It is an affluent (but less so than 20 years ago when I started) suburb of Des Moines, Iowa. I teach 7th grade social studies. This year, my team of teachers is part of something called the New Tech Network which utilizes all project-based learning. I am now co-teaching a class we are calling Humanities that combines language arts and social studies. I am working harder than I have in my teaching career -- even harder than my first year. It has -- so far -- been very rewarding. It really is like learning a brand new job.
  19. Star Wars has probably deepened my appreciate for AGIB. They seem to be closely related.
