  1. Yep. I sure wish her the best. Just lost a close relative to cancer three weeks ago. That statement followed by At My Window... I really love Secret of the Sea.
  2. I've never heard a Wilco show go this deep without ANY banter. Not even so much as a thank you yet. No complaints here, just an observation.
  3. Less Than You Think Ashes of American Flags Bull Black Nova In that case it'd be Makers Mark.
  4. Am I hearing Dewars commercials quietly between songs?
  5. Any thoughts on Split Single? I've followed Jason Narducy's career since he used to open for Bob Mould solo shows as Jason & Alison.
  6. While I was well aware of the Beatles. That awful Sgt. Pepper movie with the Bee Gees and Peter Frampton is probably the beginning of my serious fandom.
  7. The closest I can think of right now is Big Star through the Replacements' "Alex Chilton". Not quite the same.
  8. Let's see if we can find a bit of common ground: 1. Living in the St. Louis area as an impoverished person of color sucks. The legal, educational, and economic systems are stacked against you. 2. Some police abuse their authority. 3. It's clear that the Ferguson P.D. reacted to the initial Brown protests in about the worst possible way. 4. None of us were in the grand jury room, and there was a lot of contradictory testimony but there seems to be ample evidence on the record to justify no indictment of Wilson. 5. The media will soon forget about what happened in Ferguson and there will soon
  9. You claim it's worth reading. You then say, with little to base your claim other than your assumptions about Hixter, that he read maybe 15% of it, not half. But you now refuse to give any reason to read it other than it's important. Sorry if I don't indulge you.
  10. So we should read a painfully long article because it makes important points that you can't (or won't) articulate. OK.
  11. Can you give an executive summary?
  12. This has shown up at least 3 times on my Facebook feed this morning. Never heard of the guy before, but it is well-written and reflective. Probably too evangelical at the end for many of you. Also, KevinG's replies to Hixter continue to entertain.
  13. Remember Ebola (Should it be capitalized? Chrome wants it that way.)? One of the things I saw over and over about Ebola in America is that people should be much more concerned about diseases that actually kill large numbers of Americans (cancer, heart disease, flu, HIV, etc). Let's apply that logic here. Blacks are most often killed by blacks. As the link I provide shows, whites are most often killed by whites too and there are a lot of reasons for that as the article explains. But if we were to address issues based upon their likelihood to occur, we would be much more focused on deterring
  14. I got a fucking robo call today about Keystone. That shit was supposed to stop after the election.
  15. Michael Ian Black agrees with Betty Draper. http://www.amazon.com/Im-Bored-Michael-Ian-Black/dp/1442414030
  16. I know a few people who came legally from Mexico. They don't feel like their teeth are being kicked in. That was done by INS. Arbitrarily scheduled meetings in cities miles away, delays caused by incompetent officials. Feom my point of view, we need these laborers and then bitch about them when they show up.
  17. I saw him open for Ryan Adams a month or so ago. He played that song. Many years ago, I'd seen the Pretenders in the same venue. He started off very slow, but when his band came out, he played 3 or 4 really solid songs.
  18. Three observations: 1. I teared up pretty thick when Ray started the show. I am sure that wasn't easy. 2. Their mother laughs exactly like them. What a household that must have been to grow up in. 3. I was really tickled when his wife called in.
  19. Yep. Again, just a casual fan. Eat a Peach and Fillmore are the only CDs I own.
  20. So I listened to my Eat a Peach CD today. Never realized there was a Butch Trucks in the band back then. I figured he had to be related to Derek. A quick google search confirmed that he was his uncle. Not a HUGE Allmans fan, but surprised I'd never figured that out before.
