  1. This is the correct view on this. If you're on a Wilco message board, a Best Of collection isn't for you. Why would it bother you that it's being released to bring new fans into the fold. There were countless classic rock artists I discovered through their Greatest Hits and often waited years before exploring their other stuff. As for the shows, I would love to celebrate Wilco's 20 anniversary with them on my 20th wedding anniversary at the Ryman on 10/22. Unfortunately, lack of funds and wife's interest in Wilco make this very unlikely.
  2. In reading up about Neil Young and his life, family, etc., I never realized he has epilepsy. My 9 year old son does as well. I shared that with him.
  3. Really? This is far from hip or cliquey.
  4. They raised a son with cerebral palsey. Even with all the help their wealth can provide that had to put an enormous amount of stress on their marriage, and though that son is an adult now, I have no doubt that kind of stress leave scars that are hard to heal. I am sorry to hear this and wish them both well.
  5. It's got some great music. Inglorious Basterds was a good reminder of how great Cat People is. Never Let Me Down (1987), however, is a steaming pile of shite exceeded in shittiness only by the Glass Spider Tour that supported that LP.
  6. 5 seconds in the shower would fill up most buckets. If you live in AZ, CA, etc., don't waste water (oops, I challenged my buddy in Tempe), but the impact of the lost water is negligible at best.
  7. Bowie was my portal into underground music. It's been really fun to read through this and recollect my affection for so much of his music. I also learned that he produced a Lulu cover of "Man Who Sold the World". You can find it on Spotify. The author is really unkind to Bowie's commercial -- and often crappy -- 80s output. It's important to remember that much of that crap sucked in a bunch of teenagers like me who went back and got into VU, Stooges, Eno, etc.
  8. I agreed with this in principle until I saw the number of dollars ALS was collecting this year versus previous years. It's a social media age and it seems to work.
  9. It really is hard to share the earth with fuckwads like that or the fuckwads who are in ISIS for that matter.

  12. Does she have a regular thing going on now? Maybe the best offer she's had in a while.
  13. So do these kids: And, yes, those are solid albums. Across a Crowded Room seems to get forgotten a lot.
  14. That's kind of what I thought too. These are some fantastic renditions.
  15. Released within the past month, Acoustic Classics is so good. Acoustic re-recordings of some of his best. Some originally acoustic, some not. All good!
  16. I thought maybe math worked differently down under like a water swirling down the drain.
  17. The crescendo in Born to Run at about 3:10 in this live version http://youtu.be/IxuThNgl3YA The sound of fingers running along the fretboard on Bob Mould's Lonely Afternoon at about 3:05 edit: Not sure why the first link shows up and the 2nd video is embedded.
  18. Recorded in '75, but still pretty kickass. Nice find. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...For_the_Whole_World_to_See
  19. I think I've noted before that it seems he has started slurring his words while singing. Not AT ALL trying to imply anything about sobriety or anything, as his speaking voice is fine. I wonder if years of straining his vocal cords have him trying to different methods.
  20. Hillary should have a pantsuit tailored with the text of that Republican report.
