Artists you were late in coming to—now you can't get enough.

You've heard him play? Whoa. -
Make sure you watch Malala Yousafzai on the Daily Show from yesterday. I really want her to receive the Nobel Peace Prize Friday.

Wow. Other than your 1st sentence, this has nothing to do with my post. I didn't -- and mostly wouldn't -- defend the tactics, salaries, or profit margins of pharma companies except to say those who develop truly life-saving meds deserve to be well-compensated. My post was entirely what you said about doctors and you pretty much ignored my reply. But thanks for your thoughts anyway.
-
This and many other statements you made about doctors sure paint with a broad stroke. Reminds me of the kinds of things some people on the right were saying about my profession (public teacher) around the time Scott Walker was stirring things up in Wisconsin. I have a family doctor, have seen a few specialists in my time, my son sees a pediatric neurologist. I have had bad experiences with a small handful, but I firmly believe the great majority have striven to provide me and or my loved ones with appropriate care. Most of the make a helluva lot more money than me, but I believe they de

I suppose my biggest concern about ACA is employment. There seem to be a lot of reputable reports of businesses hiring my p/t and less f/t because they don't want to provide the required insurance. On a semi-related note, I don't know if I've posted it here, but Steven Brill's cover story for Time on hospital costs is required reading. Health care reform needs to include some transparency in medical billing. Hospital chargemasters are downright evil. It's one thing for me to pay $8 for a beer a ball park because I'm a captive audience. I don't need the beer, and the cost is well adver

Best part of that article: Shutdown #3: The Abortion Shutdown II: Abortion Boogaloo

I consider myself a fiscal conservative. Moderately conservative, but to the right, nevertheless. Having said that, I have yet to hear a convincing argument that the ACA is worth all of this. And the shudown is one thing. If Congress refuses to increase the debt limit in a few months, they're really going to fuck things up. I am all for shrinking the debt, but failing to increase the debt limit DOES NOT accomplish this. The only way to do that is for both parties to negotiate a damn budget! All failing to increase the debt limit will do is force us to not pay our bills on debt already a

Oh man, Lammy living in a house with guns. The mind reels. "Just put it in the microwave, thank me later."

I don't have brunch often; but when I do, it's a beautiful day.

You live in Texas, so I'll assume that you know more about her than the color of her shoes and her stance on abortion when you label her a lightweight. I don't even recall the woman's name right now, so I don't know nothin'.

I now keep imagining Obama saying, "I wonder if the FedEx guy knows he's my dealer."

So damn true.

What time should I be over?

Which would you rather be, a Christian in Cairo or Islamabad, or a Muslim in Birmingham or Knoxville? Also, after catching up on Cruz's filibuster, I agree a bit more with KevinG.
-
I left some parts of her comments in that I would maintain are absolutely true. I know -- off the top of my head -- that Christians have been targeted in Egypt and Pakistan. The attack in Kenya was directed specifically at non-Muslims (probably mostly Christian). I don't defend Cruz's filibuster. But there sure is an interesting comparison in the media attention he got versus what the woman in Texas got. Still, Palin's an idiot. But you know the stuff about blind squirrels and whatnot.
-
Yes.
-
Palin needs to go away. Threats to shoot up Republican congresspeople who vote differently from her wishes are far from cute.

I went on a huge Replacement binge tonight including lots of youtube vids from RiotFest Chicago. Sometimes I think they're the only band I need.

I'd hate to see Gardy go, but he deserves a shot with a team filled with talent.

The only problem with this is gerrymandering. Most of the House is safe just because of their party affiliation. Going after Obamacare will be good in the eyes of their constituency.
