All the more reason for him to have heeded the advice (probably legally "ambiguous", but come on...) to not pursue Martin. I suppose neighborhood watch volunteers are to be unarmed to avoid this kind of situation.
-
But he was a trained neighborhood watch volunteer. So how is this difference substantial in the slightest?
-
So gangs make 46 calls to police over a 7 1/2 year period?
-
Wait, weren't you going a week without?

If I'm following someone as a neighborhood watch person and a police dispatcher (are they not the same as police?) tells me "we don't need you to do that." I would decide not to do that, maybe the Slate author is right and Zimmerman is a reckless fool instead of a criminal. Hitter, you seem unwilling to acknowledge he did anything wrong (criminal or otherwise) that night. Also, curious, what restrictions on magazines do you favor? I seem to recall you arguing against proposed restrictions earlier.

Autumn Defense Appreciation Thread
uncool2pillow replied to smells like flowers's topic in Just A Fan
Pretty sure he focuses on guitar in Autumn Defense. -
They were, each and every one of them, great people. You could tell why most of them were great litigators. Charming, smart without being condescending. I had a blast for an entire weekend with a group of strangers other than my brother.

Grohl has always seemed like a great guy. Really did a lot for Bob Mould with his tribute show in L.A. a couple of years ago and including him in the last Foo Fighters LP. I can't picture Grohl and Wilco recording together. Would love to see Grohl join them on stage for Kicking Television and maybe some Foo Fighters or Nirvana song.

Except that the more they listened the less the police believed his story. This is a good, unbiased article. Shows that the police thought that there were holes in Zimmerman's story but also seems to support the idea that charges shouldn't be brought. Most of the people quoted along that angle are defense attorneys, so of course that's what they'd say. http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/06/21/2860569/zimmerman-told-police-trayvon.html

The streets in that neighborhood seem so short that I'm not sure house numbers would have been needed to pinpoint his location, but whatever.
-
I remember hanging out with my brother and a bunch of his fellow Texas lawyer types. One of them, a defense attorney who has since represented at least one well known defendant, quipped, "Hell yeah I keep 'em out of jail and help 'em get their guns back!" In all seriousness, though, I think it's clear that this guy does need his gun now more than ever.
-
Fair enough, I interpreted "a few" as may 2-4 years. But if he's been patrolling his neighborhood for that long, he knew exactly where he was when he called police that night. Again, I believe that was a lie. He led to make it appear he wasn't disobeying a police dispatcher's request and bolster his story of self-defense.

I like hearing his POV. Isn't Zimmerman's neighborhood a gated community? 46 calls to police? Maybe not a racist, but paranoid? I bet the police started rolling their eyes when they heard from the guy.

Seems to be solid evidence from Marin's clothing that at the time of the shooting he was on top of Zimmerman. There are conflicting eyewitness accounts. Some say they saw Zimmerman on top, so maybe they wrestled around a bit. I can't answer your specific questions. I kind of hope Hixter can.

Oops, Calvino beat me to the punch.
-
Then you're a pretty shitty neighborhood watch volunteer.
-
They will not be able to prove race was a motive. Parents filing a wrongful death suit is the only chance of the courts holding Zimmerman accountable..

I can't tell you much about Binaural and Riot Act. I think I heard Binaural once and Riot Act never. I've always been on ho-hum on PJ in general. All I can say about Backspacer is that it's rock and roll.

And the last album was the 1st one since Vitalogy that I liked.

Nearly 3 weeks with no activity in the baseball thread. Wow. Glad Lincecum got a no-no yesterday. I like him. Also, I was just so pissed at the Twins for their recent play, then they turn around and win 2 of 3 in the Bronx. Sure, the Yankees are old and injured, but they seem to always have the Twins' number. Hope at the all star break??

See, that's just it, even the jury may think he's guilty. The don't find people innocent. All we know for sure is that they felt the evidence left a reasonable doubt of his guilt.

1) He got out of the car to identify which street he was on. This was in his neighborhood. If you believe this, then I can't imagine you really have an open mind to both points of view. He knew he went against the advice of authorities and probably thought up this lie to justify his being out of his car. 2) Martin was going for his gun. This one may actually be true, but I don't think so. I think the only way he knew the gun was there is if Zimmerman told him in an effort to get the upper hand in the fight they were having There are probably more, I watched most of the closing argumen
