  1. Hey Donna! Yeah TWS are really the nicest guys and I am super super excited to be recording with Gavin. You must have saw them on tour with Elliot Brood? They're another bunch of great guys we've had the pleasure of playing with. I think the record will come out some time next year, late summer most likely.
  2. Well folks it's been confirmed, now I'm not sure of how many people will know who they are (probaby lizish and a few other Torontonians) but Kalle Mattson is having the pleasure next year to be recording our next record with Gavin Gardiner from the Wooden Sky fame. I've really loved the Wooden Sky albums and Gavin's songs for a long time now, and I'm sure if you guys check them out you'll feel the same way, just a great band and wonderful songs. We've played with the Wooden Sky before and played many times with another band Gavin has recorded, the Great Bloomers, and in the process have made
  3. That's great! I've only been to Montreal once so I have no clue where anything is, so it's good to hear there's stuff around the venue. Also I much prefer GA Wilco shows now, nice to get up real close.
  4. I believe I remember reading in an interview after SBS came out that Jim mixed a version of SBS but the band decided against using it. So they've worked together on Wilco since the AGIB-era. On Q Jeff said that the band is in a place now, after putting out W(TA) that they sort of have a clean slate in what they can do and how it will be received. I think this is really true, at this point in time I really have no clue what they'll do next, whereas after SBS most of us had a pretty good guess as to what they'll do. It's certainly exciting to think about.
  5. I got two for Montreal, that wasn't bad at all. For Ottawa I have 4 in row K, dead centre, and two row A dead centre. Woot!

The band will be on Q THIS MORNING, let's hope Jian even has some questions after he left early!
  7. Fun night, definitely. Good setlist and good to hear some odd balls, most importantly How To Fight and Pot Kettle Black. On another note, Jian Ghomeshi was in the row in front of me and he left early, not a very good interviewer leavin early!

I am sitting on the GD gallery, I hoping to get better one's from the box office or scalper, something. I'll be with girlfriend, wearing a blazer and scarf odds are. Say hi to us if we don't see you first?

I dig George way more than Jian, the only Hour interview I found awkward was Pattie Boyd. Jian does this to me on a consistent basis with his talks about being in fucking Moxy Fruvous. I'll be there tomorrow night folks, sadly, though not Thursday, bobfrombob will be enjoying my seats though! Come say hi!

Jian was being Jian and Jeff basically answered everything in a one word answer. Made for some pretty awkward listening.
  11. Jeff will be on Q with Jian Ghomeshi this week, not exactly sure on the date, I am going to assume Wednesday or Thursday though. Hopefully this interview won't be as awkward as the last time Jian interviewed him backstage at Massey Hall!
  12. Deceptive thread title eh well sort of... My band just got a very flattering review from Canadian music blogger "Hero Hill". It's a pretty big deal apparently as he's been a past Polaris juror etc. Here's the review http://www.herohill.com/2009/10/quick-hitters-kalle-mattson-whisper-bee.htm We've just moved to Ottawa and are starting to get lots of offers for shows and the such which is really really exciting. We're recording a new EP right at the moment which will be released around christmas time (you VC'ers will most certainly get a nice download link) and in the new year we will
  13. It's pretty huge, it's where the NAC Orchestra plays as with large ballet's etc. They do have concerts however, Yo-Yo Ma just played here, with a special guest...
  14. I'll be of course going to the Ottawa show (where I now live, VC folks we should hang out!) and I'll be heading to Montreal earlier that weekend, boy oh boy!
  15. I thought it was pretty badass to come out with Nova after Gretchen whateverthefuck, but then proceeded to play every joke song the band has (besides WTS). Oh well, they were tight but just a lame song selection IMO.
  16. Uncuts Best Albums > Pitchfork's Oh no I didn't!
  17. lol that's pretty great. Also, "it's like watching them discover snow or something" is also pretty hilarious, and I have to agree with Wilco HQ one of the best interviews I've seen in a while with Jeff, it's seems as though not many interviews actually get him to open up about stuff.
  18. Although I'm super happy to see AGIB that high (sometimes I think it's better than YHF in many ways, especially lyrically) but it seems crazy that Kid A is that low. Uncut is generally one of the best music magazines out there for sure so congrats to Wilco.
  19. Jeff totally reads the board. Remember when he name dropped "Froggie" in Australia? Also at a Toronto show right after the Volkswagen fiasco Jeff wore a black shirt that said "SELL OUT" that he revealed during the Hummingbird dance.
  20. Wasn't Dylan offered the Guthrie lyrics before Wilco/Bragg but something happened miscommunication wise? I remember reading something along those lines at one point in time.
  21. I agree that Man Named Truth is pretty bad but no one's lyrics on the album come close to touching Temazcal, and lyrically Map Of The World and Ahead Of The Curve are pretty good. I still maintain that Dear God is easily the worst, I can't stand Jim's ridiculous falsetto, but that's me. I just find Jim's contributions really lazy. His Master's Voice is pretty good but The Right Place basically sounds like, "hey let's have a country tune", lyrically Losin Yo Head is pretty bad as well.. but at least it's a catchy tune.
  22. I agree that it's pretty much what you'd expect, mediocre I guess. I find that Jim James is the weakest part of the album, his voice doesn't really work well Conor and Matt's, whereas I feel both their two voices work very well together. Song wise I'm the most impressed with Conor, lyric wise especially, but Matt definitely has the best "tunes".
  23. I got mine a couple days ago there's no skipping on any of the tracks and it isn't warped at all, maybe I got lucky?
  24. I saw Neil on this tour, first night of three at Massey Hall, a 2,500 seat theatre with the best sound in the world and I was fifth row. When he played Ambulance Blues people were crying all around me. It was possibly the best concert I have ever been to.
  25. Too Blue is killer, super Beatlesesque and damn damn catchy, a great way to start the album. What Could Have Been is sorta boring IMO, John's song is alright but what I actually think is the best Wilco personnel contribution is Pat's song, really really good I think.
