WOAD definitely grew on me too (but Queen of The Supermarket is the worst song he has written IMO), Magic to me is probably most cohesive thing Bruce has done since BITUSA, The Rising was great but as said above way too long and had some really awful songs (Skin To Skin ugh), but The Promise songs sound awesome a couple listens in so far. People over at BTX are whining about Bruce's new vocals etc. but I think they're great and it really does hold up as an entire double album unto itself. Does anyone else hear the ridiculous resemblance of Ain't Good Enough For You to Rebels by Petty (really

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/51942/226851 A really cool mini doc with some really great music clips (including two soul/popish songs that sound awesome) of Because The Night and The Promise, and apparently a bunch more clips to come! The Promise also got 5 stars in Uncut and they said it was something along the lines of "The best unreleased Springsteen album ever, what true fans are waiting for". I'm getting pretty excited to get the Darkness bundle in the mail.

It would be so seminal!

I was always thought Drunk Girls was basically "White Light/White Heat" by the VU.

I saw the first show of the tour last night in Montreal and it was amazing. He had an 11-piece band, and they pulled off everything from Age Of Adz and All Delighted People EP, including all of the 25 minute Impossible Soul, yes 25 minutes. Ended the main set with Chicago (at that point the only thing played not off of Adz or ADP) and came back for a two song solo encore of Concerning The UFO..., and John Wayne Gacy. I don't think I've seen a show with that much musicianship and the amount of demand on all 11 people to play that music, just insane. I highly highly recommend that if anyon

Stereogum has really good videos of Jeff at Farm Aid and the Letterman and Colbert performances. http://stereogum.com/536662/week-in-tweedy-colbert-letterman-farm-aid-25/video/

Agreed I love the EP! Both versions of All Delighted People are great, especially the first. Enchanting Ghost is good but it's almost TOO creepy for me to fully enjoy.

So what are people's thoughts on the new album? At first it seemed really hard to decipher with so much stuff going on. He's gone with a lot of new instrumentation, lot's of drum machines, synths, blurps and bleeps. I dunno after getting a few really good listens and getting familiarized with the songs I think it's a really great record, I'm really intrigued as to how he's going to do it live.

Great review on Pitchfork today. An 8.2, that's higher than they have given any Wilco record since YHF... http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14666-you-are-not-alone/

Pretty much it seems.

I think it's a really solid record. Great song choices, good sounds, and great production by Jeff. I'll be honest that I would have never bought the album if Jeff wasn't involved, but I am really glad I did, it's got some great playing and I think we'll see it pop up in a lot of best of lists at the end of the year.

Secret show at the Horseshoe tonight in Toronto?

There's a website (I can't actually remember the name of it now, I'll find it) that you have to pay a yearly fee for but it compiles pretty much everyone's rates and you are able to see how much anyone's guarantee is. Wilco, Radiohead yadda yadda, they're all on there, it's pretty neat.

Got GA for Montreal, woot!

An hour long interview with them is on Q (CBC) right now, and will also be on CBC's the National tonight, preeeeeetty cool.

The two "Half Light" songs are super super good. First part = really pretty orchestral-esque Regine song. Second part = Depoche Mode/New Order-esque song? Synths and the whole bit, pretty awesome. Upon first listen they really went for something different this time around, and I really dig it so far.

Yup it's leaked...
